Here is a list of local fishing marks in and around Morecambe Bay.

High Water.

North Wall, Heysham.

The north wall is probably the most easy to access venue in the Bay. You can literally park up and fish from the back of your car.
Fishing times - upto 3 hours either side of high water.
Summer species - Plaice, Bass, Flounder, Eels, Pounting, Dabs
Winter Species - Codling, Whiting, Dogfish, Conger

Directions - Follow along the promenade towards Heysham.



Stone Jetty, Morecambe Centre.

This is definately the most popular venue in Morecambe. Over the years it has produced some whoppers. Most people fish on the end but it is still effective along the sides. There is seating and also a small cafe open in the day which makes life that little bit easier.
Fishing times. - Usually 2 hours either side of high water but it can be fished at anytime.
Summer species - Plaice, Bass, Flounder, Eels, Pouting, Mackerel.
Winter Species - - Codling, Whiting, Dogfish, Flounder

Directions - The Stone Jetty is situated behind the Midland Hotel in the middle of Morecambe.


Town Hall Slip Way. Morecambe.

The Slip way has been a great venue over the last few years for big Plaice. Again an easy venue to get to and you fish about 30-40M from your car.
Fishing Times - 1 hour 30 mins either side of high tide
Summer species - Plaice, Flounder, Eels.
Winter species - Flounder, Whiting

Directions - Follow on the promenade from the town centre heading with the Sea on you left until you reach a roundabout and a Gala Bingo. There is a white race office on stilts on the promenade. The slip way in directly behind it.


Morecambe Golf Club. Towards Hest Bank from Morecambe.

Another easy to fish summer venue where there are bags of Flastfish and eels to be caught. Park up and fish on the other side on the Promenade.
Fishing Times - 1 hour 30 mins either size of high tide
Summer species - Plaice, Flunder, Dabs, Eels.
Winter Species - Flounder, Whiting

Directions - Follow along the promenade towards Hest Banks (Signposted Carnforth). As soon as the houses dissapear there is a golf club on the right. Fishing is oposite the golf club all along until VVV Gym.


Throbshaw Point, Heysham Village.

This is a picturesque venue which produces fish throughout the year. You fish from a rocky outcrop onto a relatively clean beach. with a strong tide run at times. The venue can only be fished on tides below 8.4M.
Fishing Times. 2 hours either Side of high water. (it is best to get there as early as possible and fish the tide up)
Summer Species - Bass, Plaice, Flounder, Dabs, Mackerel, Eels.
Winter Species - Codling, Whiting, Flounder, Dogfish.

Directions - Follow along the promenade towards Heysham. Turn off down into Heysham village (signposted). Follow the road down into the bottom of the village and park in the car park in the centre. On foot follow the road down the side of the Royal pub and turn left up the path next to St Peter's church. The path the take you onto Heysham Head. Follow along the point to the front right point of the Head and you will see the outcrop of rocks called Throbshaw point.


Power Station Outflows. Behind Heysham Power Station.

This venue is all about the hot water getting pumped out of the Power station. The hot water attracts Bass and it has been a Nursery for Bass for a long time now. It isn'nt uncommon to get hauls of over 50 Bass in a session. It isnt the prettiest venue but it does produce. Spinning is the most effective but you can bottom fish.
Fishing Times. You can fish at any time high or low water.
Summer species - Bass
Winter Species - N/A

Directions - Follow signs towards Heysham Port. At the final set of Traffic lights before the port there is a hump back bridge on your left which "Ocean edge caravan park" is signposted. Turn over the bridge and follow along the road until you get to the caravan park. You cant park on the Caravan site but you can just on the left before the site.Walk into the park and turn right. You will follow along until you get to the Sea. Follow along the sea front and you will see the outflow pipes. You can fish either side of the pumps or in them at low water.

Sunderland Point. Lune Estuary.

This is a impressive fishing venue if you like to catch a lot of flatties and eels on light tackle. You can fish the Estuary at various distances but its most effective at 50 yards or closer. There are various matches held on this mark and on average it pulls out over 10 fish per angler.
Fishing times - 1 hour 30 mintues either side of high water.
Summer species - Flounder, Plaice Eels, Bass.
Winter Species - Flounder and Whiting

Directions - Follow the signs for Heysham Port until you reach a roundabout. Then Follow signs for Overton. Conitune through overton until you find the Globe Pub. Next to the pub there is a small road with a cattle grid. Drive other this and over the coastal road. At the end is sunderland point. Please not you cannot cross this road at high tide.


Grovenor Jetty

This is quite a new venue which allows you to get around 200 yards out into the before you cast. It is situated infront of where the Grovenor Hotel used to stand, which used to be a popular fishing venue. You can fish infront or into a small channel which runs alongside the Jetty.
Fishing times - 2 hours either side of high water.
Summer species - Bass, Plaice, Flounder, Dabs, Mackerel, Eels.
Winter Species - Codling, Whiting, Flounder, Dogfish.

Directions - Follow along the promenade from the town centre towards Heysham. About half way towards Heysham there is a Car sales garage called "Bay view cars". Turn right next to the garage and park. Walk onto the promenade and you will see the Jetty infront of you.
