Salt Travel Rod
--
17/02/2012
Just got back from the Gambia where our weight allowance was only 15 Kilos on the Aircraft.Needed something light and small but a true beach rod. Got in touch with Gerrys and asked all the usual questions and decided to buy The Shakespear Salt Travel Rod in Carry case. At £68.00p I thought this was a good deal and did not want to spend too much on a rod that I would not use too often. Well, I was wrong there! This rod beats any rod that I have bought for years. It takes seconds to set up, it can take a Bashing, its bite indication is top notch, even with the tiddlers. It looks good and with the extender it feels good.Whats more, the carry case makes an excellent beach rod holder if you dig it in 18 inch into the sand.I was casing 6 oz leads a good distance, carefully at first because I wasnt sure on what it could take due to its 6 part construction, but into the second week, i was really heavy casting using pendulum style, it took the lot!I am not used to a High set reel but this was no problem with this rod, but hope Shakespear gets a grip and makes this happen on the Salt Rod with a sliding reel seat. I used Mag elites and Penn 525s with no problems. Thanks Gerrys, for helping out, my trip was made fantastic furthermore, I did not have an exess baggage charge.
