Korda Krimps The final launch in our big-hitting trio of new releases is the long-awaited Krimp Tool. We’ve been fielding questions about the release date for what seems like years but the big day is now very close. The clever system will allow us all to reach brand-new heights of neatness in rig creation! The Krimps and Krimp tool have been designed to allow easy rig construction with stiff materials. In particular we’re really excited about the potential to create extremely neat loops for chod rigs. Not only this but using Krimps will allow you to create chod rigs that are exactly the same length each and every time. There are two sizes of Krimp available which have been designed to suit different materials. The smaller one will suit normal stiff materials and stiff coated braids like our Hybrid Stiff and the larger one is perfect for really thick materials (like 30lb plus mono). The product development team went to extreme lengths to make sure that the Krimps and Krimp tools were exactly right having to overcome various problems along the way. The complexity of getting the tool and Krimps just right has meant that this has been a long development but we’re sure that it’s been well worth the wait. Judging from the interest that you’ve shown in this product range it’s about to become one of our most popular products!
Korda Marker Braid This braid casts superbly well, thanks to its low diameter, and transmits the feel of the lake bed accurately back to your rod, allowing you to find the very best feeding areas with your marker float setup. It is hard-wearing and has high knot strength, which is key when you consider just how much punishment that your marker setup is subject to over the course of a year. The Marker braid is finished in a SUB-Green colour, to make it as unobtrusive as possible. There are 300m on each spool, so you’ll be able to spool up more than once, as long as you back your spool up. We recommend that you use a 30lb Arma-Kord shock leader to take the force of the cast; you can attach this using a back-to-back grinner knot.
Korda 4th Dimension Classics / Yellow Lens Polarising sunglasses are perhaps the single most important item of tackle that you can own. They cut down glare to allow you to see your quarry as they move around, below surface. So, it was only natural that we’d release a range of our own. This timeless style is uber-cool, a demi-tortoiseshell model with yellow lenses. Korda 4th Dimension Classics
Kiana Carp’s Goo A soak, a glug and a spod-mix additive, all rolled into one package. The cloud of attraction that comes off bait treated with Goo has to be seen to be believed, and this is one of the attributes that makes the Goo so revolutionary. The feeding triggers and flavour combinations housed in the mysterious liquid have been carefully tweaked to provoke a strong feeding response in carp, wherever they are in the water column. The Goo was developed by Loutjie Louwies in South Africa, where it has been used to great effect for many years, leading to the unlikely dominance of the South African national team in the FIPSed World Championships. The lads even gave England a beating in their own back yard, at Linear Fisheries, using the Goo! Loutjie’s close friend, and Carp Team England manager, Ian Huntington, has been given the secret recipes and now makes Goo for the UK market, under the Kiana Carp banner. A few casts with the Power Smokes in your spod or on your PVA bags will create the most unique cloud of smell, taste and colour and simply send fish into a frenzy around the area of your hook bait. The Bait smokes are slightly softer in colour, but just as effective and ideal for use in almost every situation. Having said that, a bottle goes a very long way! Let your imagination go wild. Soak pellets, mix with water to dampen groundbait to add a unique edge, add Bait Smokes to PVA on their own or doubled up with Power Smokes, soak skinned tigers, glug boilies; the list is long.
Korda Razor Blades :Korda Razor Blades are constructed using the highest quality stainless steel which is tempered to exceptional hardness Designed with a special cutting angle Korda Razor Blades can cut through even the finest Dyneema based braids with ease and with fraying.
Korda Pulla The Pulla has been specially designed so that the angler can easily pull knots tight on hooklinks and check that they are strong enough. The 2mm stainless steel hook fits perfectly through a Korda size 8 swivel or a link loop this handy little tool makes tying rigs much easier as holding the swivel and tightening up can be a fiddly job.
Korda Stripper Tool Since releasing their Hybrid hook link material Korda have been inundated with emails and calls from people enquiring how to strip it. For the last few years they have recommended using your teeth which can`t be doing anyone any favours for their dentist bills! Well they have now found an answer to this problem - the unique Strippa Tool. This is a simple but extremely effective device that can be used for all coated hook link materials making it an absolute must have item for any serious carp angler. The Strippa Tool is a small neat product manufactured with Anodised Aluminium in British Racing Green. This truly is a nail and teeth saviour for those anglers who love using coated hook links.
Korda's first release in the Fake Food range is this pop-up imitation corn. It's Danny Fairbrass' baby, and here's what he has to say about it: “I have put a great deal of time and effort into formulating a bespoke range of plastic hook baits to cover almost any angling situation, worldwide. Our baits are different from anything else because they contain our favourite flavour/attractor combinations arrived at after years of making our own pop-ups, actually moulded into the plastic. These flavour combinations are as follows, I.B. - Ali's Illegal bast###s, a blend of several fruits that is now legendary. Pink Fruity Squid - blend of the best squid and several fruity attractors. White Banoffee - Danny's most recent favourite that has caught him huge fish all over Europe Green Citrus Zing - a blend of exclusive citrus flavours, made to make their mouth water. All come with free hair stops that pull up inside the bait so the hair cannot be seen from above, a trick taken from some of the best plastic users in the country. A small but deadly range that will soon dominate the plastic baits scene."
Korda Flat Pear Inline Lead Again hard bottoms are the place for these designs; the short condensed shape of this lead coupled with the two flat sides makes it the perfect lead for bolt rigs at short to medium range. By its very nature the flat pear lead lends itself to being fished on marginal slopes, the sides or back or gravel bars and in rivers. But, in fact it is open of the most effective shapes at short to medium range because it holds so well on the lake bed and offers so much resistance to a moving carp. We have also seen that this type of lead is by far the most like a stone on the lake bed and during the Filming of Parts 1, 3 and 4 this lead blended in better than any other. Popular misconception 'Flat leads sit on silt'. This does not happen, any lead finds its easiest path through the water so instead of fluttering down to the lake bed, a nose heavy flat lead like this will plummet down side on and nose first. Making it probably less effective in the silt than say a Swivel Pear lead, having said that it is devastating on gravel and is Danny's first choice in these close range hard-bottomed situations. Danny noted when filming part 3 of the Underwater Videos 'I tried a Flatliner Pear on the steep gravel slope to see if it really did hook the carp quicker than a swivel lead of the same shape and to my amazement it really did! I had been testing the lead clips for so long I had ignored the inline lead - not any more!'
Korda Anti Tangle Sleeves Korda Anti Tangle sleeves have been specially designed to reduce tangles, they also help to push the hooklink away from the lead. When using coated hooklinks such as Hybrid or fluorocarbons like IQ, the rig will work best when the hooklink is laid out straight and away from the lead system. By incorporating these sleeves in your set up you will increase the effectiveness of your rig which will help turn more bites into hooked fish.As with our 'Safe Zone' Leaders we have manufactured these sleeves in four different lakebed colours; Gravel, Weed, Clay & Silt. We have proved on the Underwater films that matching your components to the spot you are fishing will make a huge difference to your catch rates.
Korda Arma Kord Arma-Kord is an incredibly abrasion resistant braided line, which is also supple and thin for its strength. It has been designed as a high performance snag /shock leader for extreme snag or long range situations. In tests this braid proved at least 50 percent more abrasion resistant than the nearest competitor, its thinner diameter and low vis brown colour also makes it far less detectable underwater.
Korda Big Eye Swivels Adding to the range by popular demand these swivels have one very large round eye and one normal size one. As with all our swivels they come from the best Japanese manufacturers and have our trademark `anti glint` dull grey finish. THREE MAJOR USES Firstly they make very smooth running rigs when used as a replacement to the swivels found on the top of our leads. They were originally designed as part of the running rig kits. But after too many enquiries to mention we had to add them to the range. The second obvious use is for helicopter rigs. The large eye will rotate better if a large bead is used whereas a smaller swivel would bump around the larger beads circumference. In other words the large eye will slide effortlessly around it. They can also be used at the top of a link for the marker float - the large eye will allow the line to pull through that bit easier than a standard swivel. No doubt you will find other uses we have not even thought of yet.
Korda Big Gripper Leads You can basically utilise these leads anywhere that you need more grip like rivers on the sides of bars marginal slopes or boating out at extreme range. We have recorded that you can get the same grip with a 1oz Grippa as you can with a 2oz Swivel Pear Lead. So with that in mind you can get away with a smaller lead to do the same job which is an advantage when fishing for barbel and chub on the rivers. Also a lighter lead makes a smaller splash so we like using them for casting to gently sloping island margins where a round lead can roll down. The Grippas have become massively popular on the continent where carping in wide fast flowing rivers is the norm and where you have to boat out baits massive distances.
Korda Boilie Funnel Web With PVA sticks popular among many and so many boilie anglers out there it was important that we developed some PVA to suit. The Boilie Funnelweb is slightly narrower than the original Funnelweb enabling you to using it when casting further. Two or three baits placed into a PVA bag can be very effective – just enough of a mouthful to create a take without overfeeding. You don’t just have to use boilies though. Incorporating the MICROMESH you can place maggots micro pellets or crushed baits inside. Not only that you can create the ultimate PVA sticks. Just like the others the system comes complete with a compressor stick to create the tightest sticks. You receive 7 metres of PVA on each system and the tube comes colour-coded to help match the refills correctly.
Korda Boom 25lb Stiff Link Fluorocarbon Boom is a game-changing fluorocarbon! It’s the first fluorocarbon that can be crimped, which opens up a world of uses for rig tying. Its prime function is for creating stiff boom sections to help kick the hook bait away from the lead system, something Boom does each and every cast. You can use it to make combi-rigs, or out-and-out stiff rigs, for pop-ups and bottom baits alike. Your imagination is the only limit to its rig applications. Being a fluorocarbon, Boom blends with all lake bed types and, thanks to its subtle, green tint, it’s always inconspicuous to carp feeding around it. Boom is available in 0.55mm and 0.65mm, on 15m spools.
Korda Chod Swivel These size-eleven ring swivels have been subtly re-engineered to allow for putty to be securely moulded around the barrel. We’d noticed that most anglers used our size-11 ring swivels when making chod rigs, or the hook section of a hinged stiff rig. The team set about designing a swivel that would provide more purchase for the putty counterweight. These little beauties are the result…
Korda Choddy Hooks A hook designed to be incorporated with the popular chod rig or hinged stiff rig presentation. The pattern features an out-turned eye and the point is unbelievably sharp and reliable, retaining its sharpness in the most demanding conditions. Anglers such as Darrell Peck swear by this hook. They've literally taken waters apart using it, so get on it. Its dull, anti-glare finish blends it in with the surroundings ensuring that you won’t spook any passing fish. An absolute must for the avid stiff rig user. Due to the wide gape in the pattern, it creates extremely secure hook holds as the beaked point holds firm and doesn't twist and turn during the fight. A great hook. Learn how to incorporate this wonderful hook into your fishing by scrutinising the step by step sequence on the popular chod rig.
Korda Cog Kit A lead system that betters the hooking qualities of an inline, yet casts like a lead clip, with all its safety benefits? It doesn’t exist, right? Well, such a product is in tackle shops from tomorrow. After what seems like ages in the development, the COG system is finally here, in physical form. COG stands for Centre of Gravity, which is a reference to the unique way that the hook link is attached to the heaviest part of the lead, giving instant, unparalleled hooking. Put simply, this system has been designed to convert more pick-ups into fish on the bank. So, why did it take so long? Well, simply put, we tested it, tweaked it, changed it and then changed it back again across the space of a few years. The whole sampling process takes an awfully long time and because the end result had to work flawlessly, each stage was tested rigorously. Right through from early testing, to DVD sessions at Gigantica and intense scrutiny in front of the unblinking Underwater cameras, the COG has proven itself to be a genuine advantage. In order to truly take advantage of the unique attributes that the COG possesses, you need to be aware of its limitations. Crucially, it must be used with tubing or leadcore, and in testing we found that, although effective with more supple links, it is more suited to the stiffer hook links, such as IQ, Hybrid Stiff and N-Trap Semi Stiff. They help to eliminate tangles and kick that hook bait away from the COG, ensuring that a fish picking the hook bait up feels the full hooking impact of the system immediately. To aid the kicking-away process, we’d recommend that you give critically balanced ‘wafter’ hook baits a go with your stiff-rig setups. The one rig that stands head and shoulders above all others for use with the COG is Danny Fairbrass’ IQ D Rig. You only have to look at the Underwater filming to understand just how effective that pairing can be. When to use it then? Well, it’s best used over firm lake beds like gravel, sand and firm silt, rather than weed, when you’re better to reach for the Heli-Safe system. It can be cast every bit as far as a normal lead clip system, although when going for extreme range, it’s worth dispensing with any PVA bags as the impact could force the half-swivel out of the lead. For margin work and placing from boats, the COG is simply unrivalled. Initially, there are just two lead shapes available, flat pear and distance, which should cover you for most fishing situations. The flat pear version is best used for closer range, lowering or dropping from a boat, whereas the distance version is the one to reach for if you’re having to go long for your fish. One point well worth noting is that the COG boom sections are numbered (on the swivel) because it’s essential that they are used with the correct lead. If you use the wrong boom with the wrong lead, the setup simply won’t work as intended. We’ve had reports of great results from all those who’ve been able to use samples so far, and we’re excited to see how much of an impact the COG has on your angling too. We aren’t claiming that the COG is the answer to all your fishing problems, but it certainly does take bolt-rig technology forwards, while retaining the inherent safety of the lead clip. One thing’s for sure, it’s set to catch an awful lot of fish this year…
Korda Dark Matter Tubing Our Gravel Brown tubing has been coloured to closely match the lake bed conditions found in many of our lakes. The sheer weight of this tubing will ensure that it will sink into the softer lake beds and disappear completely. It is easy to thread which was of huge concern to the product-development team when they were testing early samples. Dark Matter tubing comes supplied in 2m packages. It lends itself perfectly to all manner of presentations including lead clip and inline lead systems. This tubing sets a new benchmark so if you use tubing then you`d be mad not to check it out.
Korda Dark Matter Tungsten Anti-Tangle Sleeves are finely tapering sleeves that help to push your rig away from the lead when it lands on the lake bed, ensuring your hooklink lies straight and flat on the bottom for perfect presentation. These sleeves have also been impregnated with high levels of tungsten to really nail your rig to the deck, negating the effect of any air bubbles that may have become trapped in the sleeve. They fit over standard size-8 swivels (simply nip the ring off a Hybrid Lead Clip and slide the sleeve over the swivel to use) and come in two sizes, for long and short rigs.
Korda Distance Swivel Leads As the name suggests this lead is designed purely for casting long distances, the nose heavy design makes it very stable indeed and also keeps the lead condensed giving good hooking efficiency. The lead is the brainchild of Alan Partridge an 'Old School' angler well known in the higher echelons of carp fishing for his innovative thinking and his long range casting. He had ridiculed Danny for years saying 'my leads cast further than yours' so one day Danny bit and said 'go on then, prove it'. So the two of them went over to a local big pit and Danny cast as far as he could with his original slender and pointed Distance Casting lead, the slack was taken out and an elastic band was fitted tightly around the line before the lead was wound in. Danny's lead was taken off the lead clip and Alan's was put on, Danny again gave it the big un and pulled the elastic band straight off the spool plus about 30 yards of line! To add insult to injury Alan allowed Danny to put his style of lead back on and see if he could hit the elastic, try as he might Danny could not match the distance, so he had to use Alan's design which has remained the same to this day! This is without Danny's favourite style of lead, he says 'I love fishing at range in open water and building up a baited area fishing all 3 rods only feet apart, the nose heavy shape of this lead means it flies straight as an arrow, it just goes where you want it to go. For this type of fishing I couldn't think of using anything else!
Korda Drop Zone Marker Stem Ever had difficulty getting your float to rise on weedy waters? Well, you needn't have. We have produced an injection-moulded stem that holds the float 10in or so off the bottom, above any low-lying weed. Your main line can run freely through a large eye, helping the float to pop up. One stem per pack.
Korda Drop Zone Marker Floats Marker floats are a massive part of our armoury and finding particular spots can often be the difference between a red-letter day and a blank. Although there were some good marker floats already available on the market we still felt that improvements could be made. The first spec from Danny was that the top had to be extremely visible, anyone who has seen Danny fishing will know that he likes to fish at range! It also had to be light and buoyant; this took a while to get right but korda have now achieved exactly what was wanted and the 'Dropzone' Marker float was born. The floats are made from a thin but exceptionally durable plastic and come in a pair in their own tough, protective tube. Each tube has one Hi-Vis flight (yellow or orange) and one black one, which is invaluable in glary conditions.
Korda Extender Stops The Hybrid hair stop has been specially designed to hold your hook bait on the hair safely and securely. Also available are the Extenda-stops these little babies can be used to adjust the mechanics of your rig quickly and easily. On those days when bites are hard to come by or when you are getting takes but loosing fish subtle changes such as making the hair longer or changing the bait size can make a huge difference to your results. By using the different length stops it is easy to lengthen the hair or alternatively change the size of the hookbait from anywhere between 16mm & 24mm without having to tie a new rig - simple! As the shape of the Extenda stops it makes it very difficult for Crayfish to pull them off making them a must when fishing abroad on the shellfish inhabited waters.
Korda Flat Pear Swivel Leads The classic pear lead will cast a very very long way, almost as far as the Distance Casting and it is less affected by cross winds because the shape is very condensed. This means that the Pear lead is suited to most carp fishing situations when fishing anything up to the very limit of your casting ability. The dumpy shape can be used to your advantage in silt. Try using a very light pear lead say 1oz or 2oz and actually let the lead plug into the silt, this will dramatically increase the resistance to a moving carp so what feels like a light lead in your hand is transformed into a heavy lead in the fishing situation. Because the lead has a large rounded end it makes 'feeling' the lead hit the bottom easier than more slender or pointed shapes. If you are new to this technique this lead will make the job easier. If you don't know what we are talking about check out the carp mags they are always showing you to do it! We rely on it so heavily we couldn't leave the rig our there without 'feeling' the lead down to the bottom. The pear lead is also ideal in a solid PVA bag because it can be pushed down into one of the corners. This makes the bag nose heavy and so more accurate.
