Description
M4 EVO
The Zziplex M4 Evo is an evolution of a classic, legendary beachcasting rod. It’s a high-performance, two-piece rod that builds on the heritage of the original M4 but with a significant boost in power and a more refined, modern feel. This rod is designed for the serious angler who requires versatility, power, and sensitivity in one package.
Here is an in-depth description with specific details:
Key Features & Design:
- “Evo” – A Stiffer and More Responsive Blank: The M4 Evo is famously described as being 20% stiffer than the standard M4. This added stiffness is not just for power; it also provides a much faster tip recovery after the cast. This means the rod “straightens out” more quickly, which translates to a more efficient transfer of energy, leading to longer and more accurate casts.
- Versatile Action: The rod’s action is designed to be highly versatile. While it has a stiff butt and mid-section for power, the carbon tip is tuned to be quick and decisive, yet still sensitive enough to show bites. The overall action is more parabolic under pressure, meaning it bends smoothly throughout the blank to store and release energy efficiently during the cast. This also allows the rod to “battle” larger fish with less stress.
- Suitable for All Casting Styles: A key selling point of the M4 Evo is its suitability for a wide range of casting styles, including overhead thump, off-the-ground, and pendulum casting. This adaptability makes it a great choice for both novice and experienced casters who are looking to improve their distance and technique.
- All-Round Performance: This rod is a true all-rounder, excelling in a variety of conditions. It’s a fantastic choice for clean sandy beaches where you need to reach a distant sandbar, but it also has the power and strength to handle fishing over mixed and light rough ground, dealing with snags and stronger tides with confidence.
Construction & Components:
- High-Quality Carbon Blank: Zziplex rods are known for their exceptional blanks, and the M4 Evo is no exception. It is built from a high-modulus carbon composite blank that is both slim in diameter and incredibly powerful. The design is a testament to the brand’s long-standing experience in using custom-made high-tenacity carbon fiber.
- Premium Guides: The rod is typically finished with premium guides such as American Tackle Titanium K Guides or Minima 4 Stainless Steel rings. These guides are lightweight and durable, configured for both multiplier and fixed spool reels, and are designed to reduce line friction and tangles.
- Reel Seat: The factory-finished rod is supplied with a CNC machined Fuji DPS sliding reel seat with EVA caps, allowing you to position your reel for optimal balance and casting comfort.
- Two-Piece, Equal Section: The rod is constructed in two equal sections, which makes it easier to transport and assemble.
- Ergonomic Handle: The handle features a Japanese shrink rubber (JSR) grip, which provides a secure and comfortable hold during powerful casts and a battle with a fish. It also includes a JSR rubber separator grip for a better hold on the lower tip and upper butt.
Specifications:
- Length: 13 feet, 4 inches.
