The Sakura Oppop 69mm is a high-performance floating popper designed to trigger aggressive surface strikes from freshwater and saltwater predators. At 69mm (13g), it is a compact but weighty lure that offers exceptional casting distance, making it ideal for reaching distant schools of breaking fish or searching large expanses of open water.
Engineered with a deep concave mouth, the Oppop produces a loud, distinctive “pop” and a significant water spray that can draw fish from great depths. It is uniquely versatile, capable of both the classic “popping” retrieve and a “walking the dog” action with minimal effort. This dual-action capability makes it an irresistible target for Bass, large Perch, and Pike.

Versatile Swimming Action: Unlike many standard poppers that only move in a straight line, the Oppop is designed to “walk the dog” on the surface. A rhythmic twitch of the rod tip allows the lure to zig-zag while still producing its signature pop and splash.
Reinforced ABS Body: Built to withstand the crushing jaws of Pike and the sharp teeth of saltwater gamefish, the reinforced ABS shell is ultra-durable and will not crack or lose buoyancy under pressure.
Acoustic Attraction: The internal stainless steel balls serve two purposes: they act as a weight-transfer system for long-distance casting and create a high-frequency rattle that alerts predators to the lure’s presence even in choppy conditions.
Krystal Flash Tail: The rear triple hook is dressed with high-quality fibers that pulsate during pauses. This “breathing” effect often provides the final trigger for a fish that has been following the lure.
Summer Bass & Perch: Focus on early mornings and late evenings when fish are most active on the surface. Fish the Oppop near reed lines, submerged trees, or over weed beds where predators lie in wait.
The “Stop-and-Go” Retrieve: Pop the lure twice, then let it sit for 3 to 5 seconds. The Krystal Flash tail will undulate in the water, mimicking a dying insect or baitfish. Most strikes occur during the pause.
Deep Water Attraction: Because of the powerful sound it produces, the Oppop is known for calling fish up from deep water. Don’t be afraid to use it over submerged reefs or deep drop-offs where Zander or Bass may be holding.
Coastal Estuaries: The 13g weight and aerodynamic shape make it a great choice for Saltwater Bass in estuaries where you need to punch through a sea breeze to reach specific structure.
“The Oppop 69mm is a real ‘noise-maker.’ If the water is calm, use subtle pops to avoid spooking the fish. However, if there’s a bit of a ripple or wave on the surface, go for a more aggressive ‘blooping’ sound to cut through the noise. I always use a loop knot or a small snap with this lure to give it that extra freedom to ‘walk’ and pop correctly. Pair it with an 8ft Medium-Heavy Ryokan for maximum casting range!
