The Sakura Ryokan SW Casting Slow Jig is a technical marvel designed specifically for the art of vertical slow pitch jigging. At 6’5″ (approx. 1.95m), this single-piece rod is built on a high-modulus IM30T Carbon blank that features a unique semi-parabolic action. This allows the rod to “load” and “rebound” with a rhythmic elasticity, perfectly bringing slow jigs to life with minimal effort from the angler.
Unlike standard jigging rods that are stiff and aggressive, this casting model is designed for use with multiplier/baitcasting reels, providing the superior line control and torque required for deep-water battles. The 100–300g rating makes it the ideal “heavy-weight” specialist for targeting deep-sea predators where heavy currents and significant depths demand larger jigs.
| Feature | Details |

| Jig Weight Range | 100–300g |
| Power | Heavy (H) / Slow Jig Special |
| Sections | 1 Section (Single-piece for maximum blank integrity) |
| Blank Material | High Performance IM30T Carbon |
| Guides | Fuji “Concept O-Rings” |
| Frame Type | K-Tangle Free (Anti-tangle design) |
| Reel Seat | Ergonomic Gloss Black Trigger Seat (Casting) |
| Handle | High-Density (HD) EVA Split Grip |
Semi-Parabolic Action: The IM30T blank is specifically tuned to have a “nervous” and reactive tip. It bends deep into the mid-section during the “pitch” and then snaps back to flip the jig into its horizontal, fluttering “fall” phase—the moment most strikes occur.
Single-Piece Integrity: By eliminating the joint, Sakura has ensured a seamless transmission of energy and vibrations from the tip to the handle. This is critical for detecting the subtle “taps” of a predator as the jig flutters downward.
Fuji K-Tangle Free Guides: When fishing vertically in windy conditions, line slack is common. The K-frame guides ensure that the braid doesn’t wrap around the rings, protecting your tip during aggressive jigging motions.
Ergonomic Trigger Seat: Designed for a “palm-support” grip, this reel seat allows you to hold the multiplier reel comfortably for hours, reducing wrist fatigue during the repetitive motions of slow pitch jigging.
Deep-Sea Vertical Jigging: This rod is at home in depths of 50m to 150m+. The 300g upper limit allows you to use heavy jigs to stay vertical even in strong tidal currents.
Targeting Pelagic & Bottom Predators: Perfect for “dancing” jigs over wrecks or reefs for Pollock, Cod, Ling, and large Gurnard. The semi-parabolic action protects light braids from snapping during the powerful initial run of a big fish.
Slow Pitch Technique: Best used with a slow, rhythmic “half-turn or full-turn” of the reel handle combined with a synchronized rod lift. Let the rod do the work of “flipping” the jig at the top of the stroke.
Vertical “Madai” & “Inchiku” Fishing: While designed for slow jigs, the sensitivity of the IM30T blank makes it an excellent choice for fishing large weighted rubber jigs (Madai) or squid-mimicking Inchiku lures.
“The 100-300g Ryokan is a beast for deep-water wrecking! Because it’s a single-piece rod, the ‘feel’ is incredible—you can actually feel the jig’s blade fluttering as it falls. I recommend pairing this with a high-torque overhead reel and a high-quality PE #2.0 to #3.0 braid (like Sakura Sensibraid 8). Remember: in slow jigging, the rod isn’t just a stick; it’s a spring. Don’t ‘over-work’ it—let the blank’s natural elasticity do the fishing for you
