Take the guesswork out of your mid-water hunt with the Westin ID-Crank 1.5, available at Gerry’s Fishing. While slightly more compact than the 2.5 model, the 1.5 version packs the same punch, designed for the “In Depth” (I.D.) concept. This system ensures that every angler knows exactly where their lure is working; the diving depth is precisely engraved in both meters and feet on the diving lip. Whether the fish are pinned to the bottom or cruising the mid-column, you can select the exact tool for the job with total confidence.
The ID-Crank 1.5 features a fat-shaped profile and a tight, aggressive swimming action that generates massive vibration for its size. Weighing in at 8.5g, it utilizes an internal long casting system to ensure you can reach those distant weed edges or submerged structures. Finished with hand-painted details and realistic eyes, this lure is a “go-to” for Perch, Chub, and Zander, providing an irresistible silhouette that triggers aggressive reaction strikes even in high-pressure waters.
| Feature | Details |

Surgical Depth Control: The I.D. concept allows you to systematically “map” the water column. By switching between SSR (Super Shallow) and SDR (Super Deep) models, you can stay in the strike zone longer without snagging or running too high.
High-Vibration “Thump”: Despite its 4.8cm length, the fat body creates a significant pressure wave. This makes it exceptionally effective in murky water where predators rely on their lateral lines rather than sight to find prey.
Snag-Resistant Float: As a floating lure, the ID-Crank 1.5 is remarkably forgiving. If you feel the lip graze a rock or a branch, a simple pause in the retrieve allows the lure to back off and float upward, clearing the obstacle safely.
The “Stop-and-Pop” Method: When fishing the ID-Crank 1.5 around heavy cover, use a varied retrieve. Crank it down hard to reach its marked depth, then suddenly stop. The lure will slowly rise toward the surface. Often, a following Perch or Chub will watch it dive and then strike the moment it starts its “vulnerable” upward float. It’s a classic trigger that works wonders in clear water!
How do I know which “ID” depth to choose?
Check the diving lip! The depth is clearly marked (e.g., 1.5m / 5ft). Match this to your fish finder or your knowledge of the swim. If the water is 2 meters deep, a 1.5m runner will swim just above the bottom, perfect for active predators.
Are these hooks suitable for hard-mouthed fish?
Absolutely. The Teflon coating on the trebles significantly reduces piercing resistance. This means even a light “peck” from a fish results in a solid hook-up, as the points slide in with much less force than standard hooks.
What tackle is best for an 8.5g crankbait?
To maximize the “high frequency” feel of this lure, we recommend a Medium-Light (ML) spinning rod with a fast action. Using a thin 8-strand braid will allow you to feel every vibration of the lure’s tight action through the blank.
