When the weather turns and the tide starts ripping, you need a rod that doesn’t just “cope,” but dominates. Here at Gerry’s Fishing, we call the Tronixpro Xenon Surf TT the “brute force” of the Xenon range. This 13ft 9in version is the “sports” powerhouse—slightly more compact and faster-recovering than the longer models, making it an absolute weapon for high-energy casting in the toughest UK shore conditions.
Designed to handle big leads and even bigger fish, the Surf TT combines raw power with a surprisingly forgiving parabolic action. Featuring a stiff tubular carbon tip, it provides the structural integrity needed to hold a large grip lead in a heavy swell without “bouncing” out. Finished in a striking, high-visibility green with premium Fuji hardware, this is the rod you reach for when you’re targeting specimen fish in big seas.

The Xenon Surf TT 13’9″ is a heavy-duty specialist designed for high-stress environments:
Rough Ground & Rock Marks: The shorter length and immense lifting power in the butt section make this rod perfect for “bullying” big fish away from kelp and jagged rock ledges.
Heavy Tide Casting: Ideal for deep-water marks like the Bristol Channel or the Mersey. It comfortably manages 6oz to 8oz (175g–225g) leads plus large baits without the tip folding.
Specimen Hunting: The go-to choice for targeting the heavyweights of the shore, including Large Cod, Rays, Smoothhounds, and Conger Eels.
Weedy Conditions: Equipped with larger-diameter Fuji guides, the Surf TT allows bulky shockleader knots and clumps of Mayweed to pass through freely, preventing “choke” during the retrieve.
Gerry’s Pro Tip: > At 13ft 9in, this rod is incredibly easy to “get around” during the cast, allowing for massive tip speed. To find the “sweet spot,” we recommend using a 175g (6oz) lead. The Gerry’s Advantage: While it’s a brute, the tubular tip is “absorbing.” This cushions the initial impact of the cast to protect delicate baits like peeler crab or squid, while providing the rigidity needed to stop your lead from “tripping” in a heavy surf.
What is the benefit of the 13’9″ length over the longer 14’9″? The 13’9″ version is often preferred by anglers who want a faster-feeling rod. It is slightly easier to manage in high winds and offers a quicker recovery after the cast, which can actually lead to better distance for some casting styles.
How does the Tubular Tip compare to the GT (Glass) or CT (Competition) models? The Tubular Tip (TT) is built for stability and power. While the GT and CT focus on finesse and small-fish bite detection, the TT is designed to stay stable in 40mph winds and provide the muscle to set large hooks in hard-fighting fish.
What reel is best suited for this rod? Because of its power, we highly recommend pairing the Surf TT with a large, high-torque fixed-spool reel (8000 to 10000 size). This ensures you have the cranking power to match the rod’s immense backbone
