Looking for that edge on tough commercial waters? At Gerry’s Fishing, we’ve seen plenty of mixes come and go, but Mainline F1 Green has cemented itself as a staple for a reason. It perfectly bridges the gap between a high-protein fishmeal and a sweet, attractive silverfish mix.
This is the ultimate “confidence” bait. Its unique green hue disappears into the lakebed, creating a safe zone where shy F1s and big Carp feel comfortable dropping their guard. Whether you’re fishing the pole in the depths of winter or the method feeder in the height of summer, this mix delivers a “sweet fishy” punch that commercial stocks simply cannot resist.
Mainline hasn’t just crushed up some pellets here; they’ve engineered a specific particle behavior designed to keep fish on the deck.
Weight: 1kg Resealable Stay-Fresh Pouch.
Base Profile: High-grade crushed expander pellets and premium marine fishmeals.
Key Attractors: Pure Betaine and a proprietary “Unique Sweet” liquid additive.
Color: Deep, Neutral Green (Inert pigment).
Particle Nature: High-absorption, low-buoyancy particles.
Scent: Strong fishmeal aroma with a distinct, lingering sweet undertone.
Texture: Fine-to-medium grind for a “fluffy” finish.
Betaine is a well-known feeding stimulant. By infusing it into the F1 Green mix, Mainline has created a bait that doesn’t just attract fish—it triggers a competitive feeding response. Once the fish get a taste of the sweet-fishy particles, they stay in the area searching for every last grain.
“Inert” is a fancy word for “staying put.” Unlike active mixes that fizz and send particles into the middle layers (often leading to liners and foul-hooked fish), F1 Green is designed to settle flat. This creates a rich, dark carpet of food that pins fish to the bottom, right where your hookbait is waiting.
While Carp and F1s love fishmeal, silverfish like Skimmers, Bream, and Roach are often drawn to sweet scents. By combining both, this mix becomes a true “all-species” magnet. It’s the perfect choice when you need to build a weight with whatever swims in front of you.
To get that famous “Mainline Fluff,” follow our step-by-step preparation guide:
The Pour: Empty the 1kg bag into a large, round bait bowl.
The Sweet Soak: For 1kg of dry mix, use approximately 500ml of water. Pro Tip: If the water is cold, mix a small amount of sweet additive into your water first to boost the signal.
The Hydration Phase: Add the water in three stages, mixing vigorously with your fingers between each. At first, it will feel a bit “clumpy”—this is normal as the crushed pellets absorb the moisture.
The 20-Minute Rest: Let the mix sit for at least 20 minutes. This allows the particles to fully swell and prevents the mix from drying out on your side tray during the session.
The Final Riddle: Pass the mix through a fine-mesh riddle. This is the secret to the “fluffy” texture. It removes clumps and introduces air, making the bait much more efficient when it hits the water.
| Condition | Performance Rating | Best Use Case |
| Clear Water | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The green color provides instant camouflage for wary fish. |
| Deep Water | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | High-density particles ensure it reaches the bottom intact. |
| River/Flow | ⭐⭐⭐ | Can be over-wetted to create a heavy, sticky ball for slow flows. |
| Commercial Snake Lakes | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Perfect for far-bank slopes and down the middle. |
The Winter F1 Session: Potting in small amounts of a fairly dry, fluffy mix to create a subtle scent trail without overfeeding.
Summer Method Feeder: Using it as a “topper” on a hybrid or method feeder to add a sweet cloud around your pellet-heavy payload.
Silverfish Matches: Targeting Skimmers and Bream on the long pole where you want a bait that holds them on the deck.
The “Over-Wet” Margin Trick: For big Carp in the margins, try over-wetting a small amount of F1 Green until it becomes a “slop.” This creates a massive green cloud that keeps fish rooting around in the silt for ages.
Contrast is Key: Use a bright yellow 6mm wafter or a piece of corn over the dark green F1 carpet. The visual contrast makes your hookbait “pop,” leading to faster bites.
Mix it Up: On waters where the fish are particularly used to fishmeal, try mixing F1 Green 50/50 with Mainline Match Margin Carp. You get the sweet attraction of the F1 with the heavy-duty protein of the Margin mix.
Is this mix suitable for the Method Feeder?
Absolutely. Because it’s easy to mix and highly versatile, you can adjust the moisture levels to make it as “sticky” as you need. For Method work, we recommend it being slightly more damp than if you were using it in a pole pot.
Will the green color stain my hands?
The pigment is high-quality and generally won’t stain your skin, though like any dark groundbait, it’s always a good idea to give your hands a quick rinse after mixing.
Can I use this in the winter?
Yes! F1 Green is actually one of our top recommendations for cold-water fishing. Its low-food-value expander base means you can attract fish without filling them up when their metabolism is slow.
How should I store leftover mix?
If you have mixed bait left over, you can freeze it in a sealed bag for your next session. If it’s still dry, the resealable pouch will keep it fresh for months—just keep it in a cool, dry place like a bait bucket.
In the Box:
1 x 1kg Mainline Match F1 Green Groundbait (Resealable Bag)
Note: Water and mixing bowl sold separately!
