The Penn Fathom™ II Lever Drag conventional reel is engineered for serious saltwater anglers, offering a blend of compact design, extreme strength, and reliable performance suitable for jigging, live baiting, and bottom fishing. The 40N (Narrow) size offers a high-capacity, narrow spool design, favored for deep-drop applications and high-speed retrieves on heavy braided line.

The reel’s foundation is a Full Metal Body and Sideplates constructed from a one-piece machined aluminum frame, which provides the ultimate in gear alignment and durability. It features PENN’s renowned Dura-Drag™ system, utilizing a special phenolic bonding agent to prevent premature breakdown of the carbon fiber washers, ensuring a smooth and controlled drag even under extreme pressure.

A key feature is the Pull-to-Turn Preset Knob, which requires the angler to pull the knob out before turning, effectively eliminating accidental changes to the drag setting during an intense fight. Depending on the model variant (Single-Speed, High-Speed, or 2-Speed), the 40N offers exceptional speed and power, making it a versatile choice for handling hard-fighting species.
