The “Backing and Leader” Strategy: To get the most out of your 300m spool, don’t fill the entire reel with braid. Use a cheap monofilament backing and then spool on 150m of Korda Spod Braid. This allows you to get two full “re-spools” out of one box. Most importantly, always use a 30lb Arma-Kord shock leader. The force of a fully loaded spod is immense; a back-to-back grinner knot to a heavy leader is the only way to ensure you don’t “crack off” and lose your kit during a power cast.

Why is the braid fluoro green?

How many reels will one spool fill?

Is it safe to use without a shock leader?

We strongly advise against it. Even though the braid is 20lb, the “shock” generated by a heavy spod during a power cast can easily exceed this. Using a 30lb to 50lb leader protects the braid and, more importantly, ensures the safety of other anglers on the bank.

Does it float or sink?

Korda Spod Braid is a floating braid. This is essential for spodding as it keeps the line on the surface, making it much easier to “mend” the line in a crosswind and ensuring a much easier, drag-free retrieve of the empty spod.
