The Gemini Anti-Snag Fixed Grip Heads are designed for anglers who require the immense holding power of a fixed-wire sinker but are fishing over grounds where snagging is a constant threat. Unlike standard breakout heads, these fixed wires are positioned further from the lead’s center of mass, providing a more aggressive “anchor” in strong tidal flows.

The “Anti-Snag” designation comes from the specific 1.2mm stainless steel wire used. While rigid enough to hold in heavy currents, these wires are designed to “give” and bend under the extreme pressure of a snag during retrieval. This unique feature makes them one of the few fixed-wire options suitable for beach fishing and rough-ground marks where dragging a standard lead would result in a lost rig.

Pro Tip: While these wires come straight, we recommend bending them into a “swan neck” or outward curve to achieve the optimum balance between gripping power and snag release. If you find the grip is too strong for the local tide, you can use a pair of side cutters to shorten the wires by 10-15mm. This alters the leverage and allows the lead to be “popped” out of the seabed with less effort.

Examples of Where to Use

Pier Fishing: Perfect for fishing high off the water. The vertical angle allows you to lift the sinker directly out of the seabed, avoiding the need to drag it through shoreline debris.
Strong Tidal Estuaries: Use these when a standard breakout lead simply won’t hold and is being “rolled” by the current. The 1.2mm wires dig deep into sand and mud.
