The “Wafter Balance” Check:

To get the best out of the IQ D-Rig, the bait must be balanced correctly. When using a wafter, the hook should lie flat on the bottom, with the bait hovering just above the “D”. If your wafter is a bit too buoyant and lifts the hook up, simply shave a tiny bit off the side of the bait with a sharp knife until the hook sits securely on the deck. This ensures that the first thing the carp feels is the weight of the hook, not the tension of the line!

Why is fluorocarbon better than braid for this rig?

Fluorocarbon provides “rigidity.” When a carp sucks in a supple braid, it can easily blow it back out. With a stiff IQ2 link, the rig is much harder to manipulate, and the stiffness actually helps “reset” the hook point into the bottom lip as the fish moves away.

How do I attach my bait?

The “D” section features a small swivel or ring. You should use Bait Floss to tie your boilie or wafter to this ring. This provides much more movement than a traditional hair rig and ensures the bait can slide freely along the “D”.

Can I use this with a pop-up?
