“The ‘Plop’ is just as important as the ‘Crawl.’ When fishing for Chub, the initial splash of the lure hitting the water often acts as the primary dinner bell. Let the lure sit motionless for 5–10 seconds after the cast; many strikes happen before you even turn the handle. If nothing happens, start a super-slow, steady retrieve. You want those wings to just ‘lip’ the surface, creating a consistent ‘glug-glug’ sound that drives fish wild.”
