For the lure angler who prioritizes feel and balance, the Axia Roadman 3000, available here at Gerry’s Fishing, is the ideal choice. Designed to sit perfectly on lighter lure rods, this reel offers a refined experience whether you are twitching small hardbaits for Perch or working soft plastics for early-season Bass.
Equipped with a high-spec 5+1 bearing system, the Roadman 3000 provides the silky-smooth rotation required for finesse techniques. The lightweight graphite body ensures your setup remains “flickable” for hours of casting, while the braid-ready aluminium spool eliminates the need for mono backing, allowing for a direct, high-sensitivity connection to your lure.
| Feature | Details |

Perch & Zander Finesse: The 3000 size is the perfect partner for light jigging and dropshotting, offering enough capacity without unbalancing a sensitive rod.
Estuary Bass Fishing: Use the corrosion-resistant graphite body to target Bass in salt-marshes and creeks where a lightweight, reliable setup is essential.
River Trout & Chub: Its smooth drag and consistent line lay make it an excellent choice for casting small spinners and cranks in moving water.
Light Rock Fishing (LRF): The aluminium spool handles thin-diameter braids beautifully, making it a great cross-over reel for light saltwater fun.
“The 3000 is all about tactile feedback. Because the graphite body is so light and rigid, it transmits vibrations exceptionally well. To get the most out of this, try holding the rod with one finger touching the blank just above the reel seat. When paired with a thin 8-strand braid on the Roadman’s braid-ready spool, you’ll be able to feel the difference between your lure hitting a rock and a fish simply ‘breathing’ on the bait.”
What is the benefit of a 3000 size over a 4000?
The 3000 is lighter and more compact. It’s designed for ‘all-day’ comfort and is better suited for rods with lower casting weights (typically 5g–25g), whereas the 4000 is built for heavier lures and more winching power.
Is the line capacity enough for big runs?
Absolutely. With a capacity of 0.25mm / 245m, you have more than enough line to handle a hard-fighting fish in a river or a Bass making a dash for the kelp in an estuary.
How does the ‘braid-ready’ spool work?
It features a specialized core that grips the braid. Standard reels often require a layer of electrical tape or mono backing to stop the braid from slipping around the spool; the Roadman 3000 allows you to spool up directly with zero slippage.
Can I use it for freshwater and saltwater?
Yes. The graphite construction is naturally resistant to saltwater corrosion. Just remember to give the reel a light rinse with fresh water after a sea session to keep the 5+1 bearings in peak condition
