Product Details and Uses

The ultimate travel companion for the mobile predatory or coastal angler, the Daiwa Ninja Tele Spin 11ft 20-60g packs the massive casting power and distance of a full-sized shore rod into an incredibly compact, telescopic format. Splitting down across 6 fast-deploying sections, this rod completely eliminates the hassle of carrying long, awkward rod tubes, making it perfect for stashing in the boot of your car, taking on holidays, or strapping to a hiking rucksack.

Despite its multi-section design, this 11ft model retains a remarkably crisp, progressive action. It is engineered specifically to punch heavy 20-60g lures right out to the horizon and handle hard-fighting predators in heavy water without feeling sloppy or sluggish.

Technical Performance & Smart Engineering

Historically, telescopic rods had a reputation for a floppy, disjointed bend. Daiwa has completely rewritten that narrative by building this rod on an upgraded HVF (High Volume Fibre) carbon blank. By combining high-density carbon fibers with a strictly minimized volume of resin, the blank remains incredibly slim, lightweight, and fast-recovering. The multiple overlapping sections wrap together perfectly under pressure, providing a smooth, fluid power curve that mimics a high-end 2-piece setup.

The rod’s hardware is heavily optimized for transport and performance. It features rugged stainless steel frame guides loaded with titanium oxide rings that handle both heavy braided mainlines and abrasion-resistant monofilaments smoothly. An integrated reel seat with a down-locking EVA foregrip locks your reel solidly in place, while ergonomically contoured split EVA grips ensure a comfortable, non-slip hold. To keep everything safe on the move, it comes complete with a durable plastic guide protector cover that safeguards the line guides and tip while telescoped down.

Where & When to Use It

  • Holiday & Travel Angling: The ultimate pack-down rod for family holidays or road trips, fitting effortlessly into luggage or under car seats so you are always ready when you spot a promising venue.

  • Coastal Rock & Pier Spinning: The 11ft length is fantastic for launching heavy metal spoons, large hardbaits, or surface poppers far out past the surf, while providing the leverage needed to steer bass and pollack clear of near-shore kelp beds.

  • Large Reservoir & River Predator Hunting: A brilliant roving option for hiking long distances along large riverbanks or reservoirs in search of pike, allowing you to move through thick brush with the rod safely collapsed.

Pro Tip: To maximize the lifespan and crisp action of a high-performance telescopic rod, always extend it from the tip downwards, pulling each section until it is snugly wedged into place while ensuring the line guides are perfectly aligned. When packing up, collapse it from the bottom sections first. Because this rod will often see action in coastal environments, ensure you telescope it out fully at home and rinse it down with fresh water to prevent salt and grit from scratching the inner HVF blank walls when collapsed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the telescopic design make the rod weaker than a standard 2-piece rod?

No. Thanks to modern HVF carbon wrapping, the cross-sectional strength of each joint is incredibly high. While it feels slightly different due to the multiple taper transitions, the rod features a highly reliable, progressive backbone that will safely handle large fish and heavy casting weights within its 20-60g rating.

What size reel balances this 11ft travel rod best?

To properly balance the 11ft length and handle the heavy drag settings required for a 20-60g rod, we highly recommend a 4000 size spinning reel (such as a Daiwa Ninja LT 4000). This keeps your casting balanced and offers plenty of line capacity for long-distance shore fishing.

What is the purpose of the included plastic guide cover?

Because telescopic guides sit close together when the rod is fully collapsed, they can easily knock together or snag during transit. The plastic guide protector slips over the collapsed tip section, locking the guides securely in place and shielding the delicate tip from impacts while in your boot or travel bag.
