If you are targeting larger predators or need to cast across wider rivers, the 4000 model is the better choice. It maintains the same robust graphite construction and 1-bearing reliability but offers significantly more line capacity and winding surface.

Key Performance Differences

The 1000 Size: Perfect for finesse techniques. With a capacity of 195m of 0.20mm, it’s ideally suited for light lines in the 4lb to 6lb range.
The 4000 Size: Designed for power. The capacity of 195m of 0.30mm allows you to use much stronger lines (10lb to 12lb+) for pulling bigger pike or zander through weeds.

Gerry’s Tip: When spooling up the Safari 1000 with fine braid, I recommend putting a small “backing” of old monofilament on first. Because the spool is graphite, the monofilament provides a bit of “grip” to prevent the braid from spinning on the spool hub, and it ensures you fill the spool perfectly to the rim for maximum casting distance
