Product Details and Uses

Guru Inline Plummets

Precision is the foundation of successful pole fishing, and the Guru Inline Plummets are engineered to provide the most accurate depth reading possible. Unlike traditional plummets where the line wraps around the outside—creating a slight angle that can skew your depth reading by several millimeters—the Guru Inline design ensures your line passes directly through the central axis of the weight.

This “true-inline” configuration means your float sits perfectly upright and 100% in line with your hook, providing “millimeter accuracy.” For the modern match angler, especially when targeting fickle F1s or shy-biting silvers, knowing the “dead depth” is the difference between a dry net and a winning bag.

Pro Tip

Reading the Riverbed: Because these plummets lack a foam or cork base, they transmit much more “vibration” up the pole top. Use this to your advantage! When plumbing up, “tap” the plummet on the bottom. If you feel a hard, sharp “tink,” you’re on gravel. If the feeling is dull and the plummet feels like it’s sticking slightly, you’ve found silt or clay. Finding these transitions is often the key to finding where fish are patrolling.

Examples of Where to Use

  • Commercial Margin Fishing: The 10g model is perfect for delicate plumbing in shallow margins. Its lightweight profile prevents it from plugging too deep into soft marginal mud, giving you a true reading of where your hookbait will sit.

  • Deep Lake Sessions: Step up to the 20g or 30g models for deep-water venues. The extra weight ensures the line is pulled taught quickly, providing an instant and accurate reading even in 10ft+ of water.

  • Running Water/Rivers: The 30g plummet is essential for pole fishing on rivers. It has enough mass to hold steady against the flow, allowing you to find the depth in a moving current without the rig being pushed downstream.

  • F1 & Silverfish Tactics: When fishing “dead depth” or 1 inch off the deck, the inline design ensures that your float is exactly where you think it is, eliminating the “line-angle” errors associated with traditional bell plummets.

FAQs

Will the metal base damage my hook point?

No. Guru has integrated a soft, durable latex cylinder into the design. You simply push your hook into this latex section, which holds the plummet securely while protecting the sharpness of your hook point.

Why is inline better than the traditional “clip-on” style?

Traditional plummets pull the line to the side of the weight. This creates a triangle between the hook, the plummet base, and the float. This means the depth you measure is actually slightly longer than the true vertical depth. The Guru Inline system removes this angle entirely.

Which weight should I use?

As a general rule: use the 10g for water up to 4ft or for stealthy margin work; the 20g for standard 5ft-8ft depths; and the 30g for very deep water, windy conditions, or when there is a tow/current in the water.

Is it easy to thread the line through?

Yes, the internal bore is smooth and wide enough to accommodate standard pole rigs easily. Simply thread your hook through the top, out the bottom, and then secure the hook into the latex insert.
