Guru Pure Fluorocarbon is the professional’s solution to “line-shy” fish. Engineered with a refractive index almost identical to water, this line becomes virtually invisible once submerged, giving you a massive tactical advantage on high-pressure venues.

Unlike many fluorocarbons on the market that are notoriously stiff and difficult to knot, Guru Pure retains a surprising amount of suppleness. This ensures your bait behaves naturally underwater while maintaining the legendary abrasion resistance and “sinking” properties that fluorocarbon is famous for. Available in a massive range from 0.08mm for delicate silverfish work up to 0.30mm for specimen barbel and tench, this is the most versatile hooklink material in the Guru stable.

The “Straight-Pull” Technique: Fluorocarbon has a “memory,” meaning it can sometimes retain the coil of the spool. To get a perfectly straight hooklength every time, cut your desired length and then give it a firm, steady pull between your hands for a few seconds. The heat and tension will “set” the line, leaving you with a perfectly straight, stealthy presentation that won’t tangle during the cast.

Clear-Water F1 Tactics: On cold winter days when the water “taps out” (becomes crystal clear), switching from N-Gauge to 0.10mm or 0.12mm Pure Fluorocarbon can often be the difference between a blank and a winning weight.
Specimen Barbel & Tench: The 0.25mm and 0.30mm sizes are incredibly popular for river anglers. The abrasion resistance is vital when a barbel tries to weed you or rub the line against a rocky riverbed.

FAQs

Is it harder to tie knots with fluorocarbon?

Pure Fluorocarbon is slightly denser than mono, so knots need to be seated carefully. Always lubricate your knots (with water or saliva) before pulling them tight to prevent friction damage. The “Knotless Knot” and “Figure-of-Eight Loop” work exceptionally well with this material.

Can I use this as a mainline on my reel?

We don’t recommend it. This is a “Pure” Fluorocarbon designed for hooklengths and rig lines. Using it as a mainline would be very expensive and, due to its density and memory, it wouldn’t cast as well as a dedicated mainline like Guru Pulse Pro.

How does it handle UV light?

Unlike standard monofilament, which can degrade and become brittle when exposed to sunlight, 100% fluorocarbon is UV resistant. This means your rigs will stay stronger for longer, even during the height of summer.

Is it really invisible?

While nothing is “100% invisible,” the way fluorocarbon allows light to pass through it rather than reflecting it makes it the closest thing possible to an invisible link between your hook and your mainline.
