Product Details and Uses

Guru Reaper Multi Positional Specialist Feeder Rest

At Gerry’s Fishing, we know there is nothing quite as heart-stopping as a savage “wrap-around” bite on the method feeder—especially when you see your rod tip lunging toward the water and your rod nearly jumping off the rest. The Guru Reaper Multi Positional Specialist Feeder Rest was born from the collective expertise of Team Guru to solve exactly that problem. This isn’t just a plastic bar; it is a precision-engineered tool designed to offer total security, regardless of the angle you are fishing or the intensity of the takes.

What truly sets the Reaper apart is its extreme adjustability. With 12 different settings and 11 distinct rod positions, it allows you to “lock” your rod into the perfect angle. Whether you are fishing a high-tip setup on a powerful river for barbel or a low-tip profile on a commercial for carp, the Reaper ensures your rod stays exactly where you put it, while protecting your expensive carbon blanks and sensitive line.

Key Features & Advantages

  • Total Positional Customization: With 12 adjustment settings, you can tilt the rest to follow the exact line of your rod. This is critical for maintaining a direct line of sight to your quiver tip and ensuring that a bite pulls the rod into the rest rather than over it.

  • Adjustable Upright Arms: The “ears” or arms of the Reaper can be adjusted to create a cradle. Even during the most violent takes from large carp or barbel, these arms act as a physical barrier, preventing your rod from being pulled into the lake or river.

  • Over-Moulded Protective Grip: The rest is coated in a soft-touch, over-moulded material. This provides a “sticky” grip that keeps the rod stable in the wind while ensuring your rod blank never touches hard plastic, preventing scratches and structural damage to the carbon.

  • Specialized Line Runners: One of the most common causes of lost fish is the line getting trapped between the rod and the rest. The Reaper features deep, specially designed runners that keep the line free-moving at all times, ensuring your drag can still work perfectly during a take.

Pro Tip from the Shop

The “River Lock” Setup: If you are fishing powerful rivers like the Trent or the Ribble, set the Reaper with the arms tilted slightly toward you. By placing the rod in one of the deeper inner notches, you create a “pocket” that allows the rod to bend fully into a fish without the butt of the rod lifting off the ground. This “locking” geometry gives you those extra few seconds to reach your rod when a big barbel decides to head downstream.

Examples of Where to Use

  • Method Feeder for Large Carp: The ultimate setup for high-intensity commercial fishing. The Reaper’s grip ensures that even the most aggressive “bolt” bites won’t result in a lost rod.

  • River Barbel & Chub Fishing: Use the multi-positional settings to point your rod tip high into the air to keep as much line out of the current as possible. The adjustable arms provide peace of mind against the legendary “three-foot twitch.”

  • Bream Fishing on Large Reservoirs: When fishing at long range (60m+), wind can often cause rod-tip wobble. The over-moulded grip of the Reaper dampens these vibrations, allowing you to see the tiniest “pin-prick” indications from wary skimmers.

  • Steep Marginal Shelves: If you are forced to fish at an awkward angle due to a cramped peg, the 12 adjustment settings allow you to square the rest up perfectly with your line of fire.

Internal Link Hooks

Pair your Reaper Rest with these Guru essentials for the ultimate feeder setup:

  • Guru Aventus Feeder Rods: The premium blank deserves the premium protection of a Reaper rest.

  • Guru Method & Hybrid Feeders: The perfect partners for aggressive commercial tactics.

  • Guru Pulse Pro Mainline: Ensure your line stays safe in the Reaper’s dedicated runners.

FAQs

Will this rest fit my existing feeder arm?

Yes. The Reaper features a standard 3/8 BSF brass thread, which is the universal size for almost all banksticks, tripod heads, and seatbox feeder arms on the market.

How do I adjust the angle?

The rest features a simple, robust “click-lock” mechanism at the base. You simply loosen the nut, click it into your desired angle, and tighten it back up. It’s designed to be adjusted in seconds, even with wet hands.

Can I use this for a rear rest?

While you can, Guru also manufactures a dedicated Reaper Rear Rest which is designed to “grip” the rod butt. We usually recommend using the Front Rest (this product) on your feeder arm and the Rear Rest on your back bankstick for the most secure setup.

Is it safe for use with braided lines?

Absolutely. The smooth, over-moulded finish and deep line runners are designed to be friction-free. Whether you are using monofilament or braid, your line will glide through the rest without any risk of fraying or snapping.
