The Korda BASIX Ready Tied Hair Rigs are engineered to take the hassle out of your rig tying, allowing you to fish with absolute confidence straight out of the packet. Perfectly tied to tournament-grade standards, all you need to do is loop the rig onto your setup, add a bottom bait or wafter, and you are ready to target large carp.

Tied using the highly effective camo green BASIX Coated Hooklink material, these rigs feature a small, precision-stripped section right next to the eye of the BASIX Wide Gape hook. This stripped section acts as a highly flexible hinge point, allowing the hook to rotate instantly the second a carp inhales the bait, drastically increasing your hooking efficiency. The supple hair is held perfectly in place along the shank with a precise piece of silicone tubing to prevent tangles on the cast and ensure optimal presentation on the lake bed.

Pro Tip

Don’t feel restricted by the standard bait size recommendations on the packet. If you are using the Size 6 rig (initially set for 15mm baits) but find the carp are feeding cautiously on smaller items, you can easily adapt the rig. By swapping out the standard hair stop for one of the longer Extenda Stops included in the packet, you can bridge the gap and securely fish a larger 18mm bait, or conversely, stack two smaller 10mm dumbell baits as a snowman rig, without needing to cut the line or tie a brand new hooklink.

How do the included Extenda Stops work?

Extenda Stops are specially stepped plastic bait retainers that feature different stem lengths. If you find your hair loop is slightly too short for the bait you want to use, you simply slide the longer stem of the Extenda Stop inside the hair loop before pulling it tight against the top of the boilie. This artificially lengthens the hair instantly, giving you complete freedom to experiment with bait sizes on the bank.

Why is a portion of the coated hooklink stripped back?

Leaving the majority of the hooklink coated provides excellent rigidity, which kicks the rig away from the lead during a cast and prevents tangles. Stripping back the final few millimeters directly behind the hook eye removes this stiffness, creating a completely free-moving hinge. When a carp sucks in the bait, this supple section allows the hook to flip and turn instantly in the fish’s mouth, driving the point securely into the bottom lip.

Can these rigs be used with quick-change swivels?

Yes, absolutely. The unattached end of the BASIX Hair Rig is pre-tied with a neat, strong loop and fitted with a tapered BASIX Anti-Tangle Sleeve. This configuration allows you to clip the rig directly onto a quick-change or QC swivel in less than two seconds, after which you simply slide the rubber sleeve down over the clip to lock the connection securely and prevent any tangling during the cast.
