Product Details and Uses

Nytro Feeder Gum Links

Take the “crack-off” and hook-pulls out of your fishing with the Nytro Feeder Gum Links. Designed to act as the ultimate shock absorber for your rig, these links are a mandatory addition for any angler using braided mainlines or targeting hard-fighting fish on light hooklinks.

Built using heavy-duty 0.8mm Power Gum, these links provide just enough “stretch” to cushion the initial strike and the frantic lunges of a fish at the net. Each link is precision-finished with premium Connex swivels—a smooth rolling swivel at the top and a quick-change swivel at the bottom—all neatly secured with sleek black heat-shrink tubing for a low-profile, tangle-resistant finish.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Shock-Absorbing Power: The 0.8mm gum provides a critical “buffer” that compensates for the lack of stretch in braided lines, preventing hook-pulls and snapped hooklinks.

  • Connex Swivel System: Features a high-quality rolling swivel for a tangle-free connection to your mainline and a quick-change swivel for instant hooklength swaps.

  • Streamlined Finish: Black heat-shrink tubing covers the knots and swivel eyes, creating a smooth, “anti-snag” profile that glides through weed and debris.

  • Precision Tied: No more fumbling with power gum knots on the bank; these are factory-tied to consistent lengths for total reliability.

  • Multiple Lengths: Available in 4″ and 6″ versions to allow you to fine-tune the amount of “stretch” in your setup.

Where to Use Nytro Feeder Gum Links

  • Distance Bream Fishing: Essential when fishing at range with braid. The gum link provides the “give” needed to stop the hook from tearing out of the soft mouth of a large Bream.

  • Big River Barbel & Chub: Perfect for the “savage” takes often associated with river fishing. The gum absorbs the initial bolt, protecting your knots from the sudden G-force.

  • Commercial Carp Tactics: Use the 4″ version on the Method or Hybrid feeder when targeting large, aggressive carp that tend to “thrash” at the net.

  • Cold Water Finesse: Allows you to use ultra-thin hooklinks (down to 0.10mm or 0.08mm) for wary winter fish while still having the “backbone” to land a bonus big fish.

Gerry’s Pro Tip

“At Gerry’s, we always tell braid users: don’t leave home without these. Braid has zero stretch, and that’s usually where the trouble starts—either you snap on the cast or you lose the fish right at the net. My advice? If the fish are smaller and the bites are ‘pecky,’ go for the 4-inch link. If you’re on a river or a big reservoir with hard-fighting fish, use the 6-inch version. That extra two inches of gum gives you a massive amount of extra safety margin during that final, desperate lunge for the lily pads!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I attach this to my rig?

A: Simply thread your mainline through the rolling swivel at the top of the link. Most anglers use this as part of a running rig, where the feeder sits above the gum link, allowing the gum to act as the final connection to your hooklength.

Q: Does the 0.8mm gum affect casting distance?

A: Not at all. Because the link is streamlined and finished with heat-shrink, it is incredibly aerodynamic. It actually helps on the cast by acting as a ‘shock-leader’ of sorts, absorbing the initial ‘snap’ of a heavy feeder.

Q: Is it fish-safe?

A: Absolutely. When used in a free-running setup, the link is completely safe. In the event of a mainline breakage, the feeder can slide off the line, leaving the fish with only the hooklink and gum link.

Q: Why would I choose 6″ over 4″?

A: The longer the gum, the more it can stretch. Choose the 6-inch version if you are using very light hooklinks or targeting very large fish. Choose the 4-inch for a more direct feel and slightly better “bolt” effect.
