At Gerry’s Fishing, we find the Okuma Ceymar CHD 2500A to be the definitive choice for the technical lure angler. While it occupies the same lightweight body class as the 3000 size, the 2500 model is optimized for slightly lighter lines and more delicate presentations. It is a “crossover” powerhouse, designed to deliver the smoothness required for freshwater finesse while maintaining the rugged durability needed for light inshore saltwater work.

The “HD” (High Density) series is built around the HDG-II Oversized Gearing concept. By increasing the main gear size, Okuma has created a reel with significantly more “winching power” than its predecessor. This is paired with a machined aluminum screw-in handle, which threads directly into the drive gear to eliminate the handle play common in entry-level reels, providing a solid, direct connection to your lure.
