This is the “short and punchy” powerhouse of the range, designed specifically to put immense pressure on big Tuna and Giant Trevally (GT).

At 7 feet 8 inches (2.34m), this rod is slightly shorter than the popping models, which gives you a massive mechanical advantage during a vertical fight. When a monster fish dives deep under the boat, the shorter lever of the 7’8″ blank allows you to “put the hurt” on the fish without the rod putting the hurt on your back.

“The 7’8” 150g model is the ‘muscle’ of the Ally II travel range. Because it’s shorter, it is much easier to manage on a crowded boat. Pair this with a PENN Slammer IV 7500 or 8500 reel. To get the best out of a 4-piece rod like this, we suggest checking the joins periodically throughout the day—give them a firm twist-and-push to ensure they are seated perfectly. With 80lb braid and a tight drag, this rod is capable of stopping fish that would break a lesser travel rod in half.
