The Prevail III 180g is the “finesse” specialist of the jigging family. Designed with a Japanese-inspired blank, it focuses on sensitivity and response. The heart of the rod is the High-Quality Carbon blank featuring Carbon X-Wrap technology. By cross-wrapping carbon fibers across the blank, PENN has created a rod with a tiny diameter that remains incredibly stiff and powerful under load. This allows you to impart a crisp, lifelike action to smaller jigs and soft plastics that heavier rods simply can’t match.

At 6ft, this rod acts as a powerful lever, giving you the upper hand when a big pollack or bass tries to dive back into the kelp. A: This specific model is for a Fixed Spool (Spinning) reel. Unlike the “Cast” versions which have a trigger grip, this rod features a standard spinning reel seat and guide configuration optimized for the way line leaves a fixed-spool reel.

Q: Can I use this for heavy lead bait fishing?
