Description
Preston Innovations Absolute 5G Lid Unit | Modular Transport Solution
The Preston Innovations Absolute 5G Lid Unit is the essential finishing component for the modular Mag-Lok system. This high-quality lid is designed to transform any combination of Absolute 5G trays into a standalone, portable tackle unit. Whether you are carrying a stack of rigs to your peg or organizing specific “feeder” and “pole” units for different venues, this lid ensures your gear remains secure, dry, and easy to transport.
At Gerry’s Fishing, we recommend the Lid Unit for the organized angler who likes to “swap and change” their seatbox configuration. By having multiple lid units, you can keep different tray stacks in your van or garage and simply “Mag-Lok” the required units onto your box for the day’s session.

Key Features & Benefits
-
Mag-Lok Security: Utilizing Preston’s patented magnetic locking system, this lid snaps instantly onto any 5G tray. The magnets provide a powerful connection that won’t wear out like traditional plastic clips, ensuring your trays never “pop open” during transit.
-
Integrated Carrying Handle: The lid features a robust, ergonomically shaped handle that folds flat when not in use. This allow you to carry even heavy stacks of terminal tackle or lead weights with comfort and confidence.
-
Weather-Resistant Seal: The lid is designed to sit flush against the tray gasket, providing a protective barrier against rain, spray, and dust. This keeps your delicate rigs and expensive terminal tackle in pristine condition, regardless of the bankside weather.
-
Modular Flexibility: The Lid Unit allows you to create “thematic” stacks. For example, you can have a “River Stack” and a “Commercial Stack” pre-prepared; simply grab the relevant stack by the lid handle and you’re ready to go.
-
Space-Saving Design: Its slim profile ensures that it doesn’t add unnecessary height to your seatbox stack when you are fishing, while still providing a professional, finished look to your station.
Why the 5G Lid is Essential
For the modern match angler, the seatbox is no longer a static item. The Absolute 5G Lid Unit facilitates a “pre-prepared” approach:
-
Home Prep: Tie your rigs at your desk, stack the trays, and seal them with the lid.
-
Easy Loading: The handle makes it simple to move gear from the house to the van and from the van to the Preston Shuttle.
-
On the Bank: If your side tray is cluttered, you can keep a “reserve” stack of trays under your seat, kept clean and dry by the lid.
The Gerry’s Fishing Verdict
The Absolute 5G Lid Unit is the key to unlocking the full potential of the Mag-Lok modular system. It is built with the same “bomb-proof” quality as the seatboxes themselves. If you own an Absolute 5G or Inception box, having at least one (or two) of these lids is vital for professional tackle management and ease of transport.
Gerry’s Pro Tip: Use a silver permanent marker or a label maker on the side of your trays to identify what is in each stack (e.g., “4” Wagglers” or “Method Feeders”). With the Lid Unit in place, you can stack these units in your vehicle and know exactly which one to grab for the session ahead
