The “Heavy Water” Anchor: On big rivers like the Trent or the Wye during winter floods, the 6oz tip is essential. When you’re using 6oz or 7oz feeders, a lighter tip will simply “fold” under the pressure of the water on the line, making it impossible to see a bite. By using the 6oz tip, you can tension the rod against the lead so the tip sits with a slight, stable curve. Will this tip fit my standard Monster X rods?

The XTR Pro range uses a specific guide configuration (American Tackle). While the base diameter may be compatible with some other 2.5mm Preston tips, we strongly recommend using these with the XTR Pro blanks to ensure the casting guides align correctly for maximum distance.

Why carbon instead of glass for such a heavy tip?

At 6oz, carbon is far superior for distance work. It is lighter, stiffer, and recovers much faster than glass. Glass tips are too “slow” for extreme distance and would cause significant line friction and reduced accuracy.
