When the fish are following but refusing to commit, you need a lure that can “hang” in the strike zone and look like an easy meal. The Sakura Bulwip 130 SP is a 130mm suspending minnow engineered with neutral density. This means that when you stop winding, the lure stops dead in the water column—not sinking, not floating—just hovering right in the predator’s face.

Designed for high-performance lure fishing, the Bulwip features a lively, ultra-responsive action. While it has a seductive roll on a steady retrieve, it truly comes to life when “twitched” or “jerked.” Each snap of the rod tip sends the lure into an erratic, panicked darting motion that triggers an instinctive predatory response. Thanks to the internal magnetic weight transfer system, the stainless steel weights shift to the tail for bullet-like casting distance, then lock into place for a perfect horizontal hover on the pause.

Where to Use the Bulwip 130 SP

Cold Water Sea Bass: When the water temperature is low and Bass are lethargic, they won’t chase a fast-moving lure. The Bulwip allows you to “jerk-jerk-pause,” letting the lure hover for several seconds. This is often the only way to get a bite on tough days.
Shallow Reefs and Rocks: The 130mm profile is a perfect sandeel imitation. Because it suspends, you can work it over jagged rocks with total control—if you see a snag ahead, simply stop the retrieve and the lure stays safely above it.
Estuary Mouths: Use the current to your advantage. Cast across the flow and let the tide work the lure. On a “dead-drift,” the neutral density keeps the Bulwip at a consistent depth, looking exactly like a baitfish struggling against the tide.
Freshwater Pike & Large Perch: The erratic “slash” action created by jerking the rod makes this an incredible freshwater lure. The 130mm size is the “goldilocks” length—large enough to attract big Pike, but small enough for a specimen Perch to inhale.

Gerry’s Tip: The “Pause” is the most important part of the retrieve! Most hits on the Bulwip 130 SP happen the moment the lure stops moving. Try a retrieve of two fast jerks followed by a 3-to-5 second pause. Watch your line closely—if it twitches or goes tight while the lure is hovering, strike hard
