Product Details and Uses

Savage Gear 3D Sticklebait Twitch 4.5cm 4g

Master light-lure tactics and target cunning predators with the Savage Gear 3D Sticklebait Twitch 4.5cm 4g, a ultra-realistic hard-bait created from a high-precision 3D scan of a real stickleback. Featuring a high-arched back, a slim profile, and anatomically accurate fin and scale detailing, this compact lure closely replicates one of the most widespread and sought-after natural prey items in both freshwater and coastal ecosystems.
Engineered with an internal high-density tungsten ball system, the 3D Sticklebait Twitch casts exceptionally long and true for its 4g weight, allowing you to hit distant pocket waters, far-bank tree lines, and open-water seams with pinpoint accuracy. On a steady retrieve or sharp rod-tip twitch, the high-arched body produces brilliant side-to-side flashes, while on the pause, it exhibits an enticing fluttering shimmer as it sinks through the water column. Designed with exceptional stability, it holds its swimming track perfectly without rolling or blowing out, even when fished in fast, heavy river currents or swirling estuarine tides.

Key Applications & Where To Use

  • Small Rivers & Streams: The high-current stability makes it an outstanding choice for working fast riffles, weir pools, and eddy lines for big wild brown trout and river chub.
  • Canal & Urban Perch Angling: Sharp twitches of the rod tip make the slim flanks flash intensely, coaxing inquisitive perch out from around bridge pilings, lock gates, and weed margins.
  • Light Rock Fishing (LRF) & Estuary Saltwater: Highly effective in shallow estuaries, harbour walls, and rocky pools for school sea bass, sea trout, garfish, and pollack hunting juvenile baitfish.
  • Roving Ultra-Light Lure Sessions: A compact, high-density search bait that cuts through head-winds and covers water quickly across unknown streams, gravel pits, and lakes.

Gerry’s Fishing Pro Tip

Pro Tip: Work this lure with a erratic “twitch, twitch, pause” retrieve on a light setup using a thin fluorocarbon leader. When you pause the retrieve, keep a semi-tight line—the 3D Sticklebait Twitch will shimmer and flutter as it sinks, which is precisely when hungry perch, trout, or sea bass will hit it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How deep does the Savage Gear 3D Sticklebait Twitch swim?
A: As a sinking micro-twitchbait, its depth depends on how long you allow it to sink before retrieving. Typically, it operates effectively between 0.3m and 1.2m, making it ideal for shallow rivers, canal margins, and estuarine shallows.
Q: Can I use this lure for saltwater Light Rock Fishing (LRF)?
A: Absolutely! Sticklebacks and small baitfish thrive in coastal estuaries and harbour basins. The 4g weight, tungsten casting balance, and flashing action make it a lethal lure for LRF sea bass, garfish, and pollack. Remember to give it a quick freshwater rinse after sea fishing.
Q: Why is tungsten used inside this small lure?
A: Tungsten provides maximum weight within a compact space, giving this 4.5cm lure the aerodynamic stability required for long casts while maintaining a low center of gravity for current resistance.
Q: What retrieve style works best for this lure?
A: While a straight retrieve produces a tight swimming action, it truly comes alive when twitched using subtle rod-tip flicks, forcing the lure to dart erratically side-to-side before fluttering on the pause.
