Gerry’s Pro Tip:

When using a single sleeve, the most common source of damage is actually the lead weight banging against the rod blank inside the fabric. We always recommend clipping a neoprene lead pouch around your lead on the outside of the sleeve, or tucking the lead into the reel handle area. Also, if you use a 10ft “Extender” style rod (like a Nash Scope or similar), double-check your collapsed length—this 170cm sleeve is a great fit for those shorter, retracted setups too!

Will it fit a rod with a 50mm butt ring?

Yes, absolutely. Solar has designed the Worldwide range with modern performance rods in mind. There is ample width to accommodate 50mm rings without putting stress on the guides or the zips.

Is there enough room for a huge Big Pit reel?

Definitely. The reel pouch is specifically sculpted to fit high-capacity “Big Pit” reels, ensuring that even large handles and oversized bails fit comfortably inside the padding.

Can I fit a 9ft rod in here?

Technically, yes, but at 170cm long, a 9ft rod will have quite a bit of “dead space” at the top. If you use 9ft rods, we recommend using Tip & Butt Protectors to ensure the rod stays centered within the padded section of the sleeve.

Is the material waterproof?

The 600D material is PU-backed, which offers excellent water resistance. It will easily handle heavy rain and spray. As with all fabric luggage, we suggest drying it out thoroughly once you get home to maintain the material’s integrity and prevent any damp smells.
