The Sonik Xtractor+ Specialist FS 3000 is the nimbler counterpart to the 4000 model, offering a refined, lightweight solution for precision specimen angling. Specifically engineered to balance with the Xtractor+ Specialist rod range, this compact free-spool reel is a master of versatility. Whether you are flicking a method feeder for tench or ledgering for shy-biting river chub, the FS 3000 provides the smooth performance and subtle line release required for technical setups.

At its heart is a sophisticated dual-drag system, featuring a micro-adjustable front drag for fish-playing and an independent rear free-spool drag. This allows you to set the perfect tension for a “taking” fish, which can then be instantly overridden by engaging the handle. Despite its robust performance, the reel weighs just 311g, thanks to its high-strength graphite body and rotor, ensuring your setup remains incredibly agile in hand.

Where to Use the Xtractor+ Specialist FS 3000

Small River Specimen Hunting: The 3000 size is a dream for stalking chub and perch on smaller waterways. It is small enough to not feel bulky during active roving but has the “bite” to handle a surprise barbel.
Stillwater Tench & Bream: Perfect for fishing the “lift method” or small feeders on technical tench waters. The free-spool can be set ultra-light to prevent cautious fish from dropping the bait upon feeling resistance.
Commercial “Match” Carp: A great crossover reel for heavier feeder work on commercials where you might encounter double-figure carp and need a free-spool to protect your rod from aggressive takes.

“The FS 3000 is all about balance. If you’re using 10ft or 11ft specialist rods, this reel keeps the center of gravity right at the handle, making it much easier to feel those delicate ‘plucks’ on the line. I recommend loading the standard spool with a high-quality 6lb or 8lb line for your technical stillwater work, and using the spare deep spool for a 10lb mono if you’re heading to the river. The line-friendly clips are fantastic for clipping up to ensure your feeder lands on the same dinner plate every single cast
