Description

Quantum Cabo Reel — 3rd Generation

Over 20 years in saltwater. This is the toughest Cabo yet.

We’re excited to bring the Quantum Cabo into our range at Gerry’s Fishing. First launched back in 2003, the Cabo has built its reputation the hard way — season after season of proper saltwater abuse — and this third generation takes everything that’s made it a go-to reel and sharpens it further: fully sealed against water, salt and sand, lighter in the hand, and armed with a drag system built to stop serious fish in their tracks.

Whether you’ve fished a Cabo before or you’re coming to it fresh, it’s a reel built to handle the punishment of real saltwater sessions without needing to be babied between trips.

Why Anglers Are Switching to the Cabo

  • Sealed against the worst saltwater throws at it — the Sealoq™ 8 system seals the gear box and drag to IPX8 standards, keeping water, salt and sand out where it matters most.
  • Smooth, powerful cranking, session after session — GEARTEQ™ machined gearing gives a precise, refined gear feel with serious cranking power and a longer working life than traditional cut gears.
  • Stopping power for big fish — the CFX200™ Carbon Fiber Extreme Drag System delivers best-in-class max drag and a genuinely smooth drag curve, so you’re in control from the first run to the fish at your feet.
  • Better line control, longer casts — the CASTEQ slow oscillation design lays line evenly on the spool, improving casting distance and control, particularly with braid.
  • Built to take the load — a high-strength aluminium frame and sideplate keep gears, bearings and seals in perfect alignment, even under heavy, sustained drag pressure.
  • Lighter than the reel it replaces — this generation is noticeably lighter than previous Cabos, without giving up any of the sealing or drag performance anglers rely on.

Where You’ll Use It

  • Inshore sessions — bass, pollack and general lure and bait fishing where a smooth drag and reliable sealing matter every trip out.
  • Rock and beach marks — sand, spray and saltwater exposure are exactly what the Sealoq 8 sealing is designed to shrug off.
  • Boat fishing — wash-down decks, spray and repeated saltwater contact won’t touch the gear box or drag system.
  • Casting braid at range — the CASTEQ slow oscillation is built specifically to improve line lay and distance with braided lines.
  • Targeting bigger species — the CFX200 drag system gives you the stopping power to go up against harder-fighting fish without the drag losing consistency under pressure.

Not sure which size fits your fishing? As a rough guide: the 2500–3000 suit light inshore and lure work, the 4000–5000 cover general bass, pollack and mixed ground fishing, and the 6000–8000 step up for bigger species, heavier drag pressure and longer casting range.
