At the heart of their design is a clever internal taper. By positioning the bead with the larger aperture facing the rod, it can glide effortlessly over leader knots during a fight. Conversely, the smaller aperture provides a secure stop against anti-tangle systems or tungsten collars, ensuring your rig components stay exactly where you need them.

Flying Back Lead Buffers: These beads were specifically designed to prevent the large bore of a flying back lead from sliding down onto your anti-tangle system. This ensures the back lead “flies” back toward the rod during the cast as intended.
Chod Rig Anchor Points: When fishing the “Chod” style on Safe Zone leaders, these beads are the perfect size to grip the tungsten collars. This allows you to “trap” your hooklink at a specific point on the leader to keep it pinned to the lakebed.
Shocker Rig Setup: Ideal for creating a “shocker” effect with running inline leads. Position the bead as a back-stop a few inches behind the lead on a leader or rig tube to improve hooking efficiency.
Marker Float Buffers: The durable rubber construction makes them excellent shock absorbers between a heavy marker lead and your float swivel.

Direction is everything. To get the most out of the tapered design, always moisten your line or leader before sliding the bead on. If you want the bead to pass over a knot easily (for safety), ensure the larger hole is facing the knot. If you need it to sit flush against a swivel or a rig component, lead with the small hole.
