Product Details and Uses

Garbolino Feeder Paternoster Booms

Eliminating terminal twists and keeping your hooklength safely isolated from your main line is the secret to high-efficiency feeder fishing. The Garbolino Feeder Paternoster Booms are a simple, beautifully engineered solution to one of the most frustrating problems in modern groundbait and bomb fishing. By introducing a semi-rigid stand-off distance between your mainline assembly and the weight, this clever little boom system dramatically reduces tangles during high-velocity casting and fast retrieves, ensuring your rig lands perfectly presented on the lake or river bed every single time.

The mechanical brilliance of these booms lies in their material composition. Garbolino has utilized an ultra-stiff, heavy-duty (HD) monofilament that acts as a semi-rigid boom arm, kicking the feeder cleanly away from your delicate hooklength during its flight and descent through the water column. The top end features a precision-crimped rolling swivel for a smooth connection to your rig, while the business end is fitted with a heavy-duty American Snap Link. This snap link allows you to swap your feeder weights, cage links, or straight bombs in a matter of seconds, making it a mandatory piece of kit for the organized match and specialist angler.

Detailed Specifications

  • Product Type: Anti-tangle semi-rigid feeder paternoster boom.

  • Boom Material: High-density, ultra-stiff heavy-duty (HD) monofilament.

  • Hardware Interface: High-strength, precision-crimped rolling swivel at the anchor point.

  • Feeder Connection: Secure, heavy-duty American Snap Link for rapid attachment.

  • Pack Quantity: 3 complete anti-tangle booms per packet.

  • Size Configurations: Available in two distinct lengths to suit varying rig dynamics.

  • Primary Function: Maximizes rig presentation by entirely eliminating mainline wrap-arounds and tail tangles.

Examples of Where to Use

  • Fast-Water River Paternoster Rigs: The absolute premier choice when fishing fast-flowing rivers for barbel, chub, and bream. Traditional looping paternosters easily twist up in heavy vortex currents; this stiff monofilament boom holds the feeder out cleanly, keeping the rig tangle-free through intense tidal pulls.

  • Distance Bomb and Pellet Sessions: Perfect for long-range commercial casting with straight leads or small hybrid feeders. The rigid stand-off arm ensures that as the rig flies through the air, the hooklength flies parallel to the main line without wrapping around the lead.

  • Traditional Bream Feeder Braided Mainlines: Ideal when utilizing zero-stretch braided mainlines on large reservoirs. Braid is notoriously supple and prone to wind-knots and wrapping around feeder eyes; these crimped monofilament booms provide the perfect mechanical buffer to isolate the feeder cleanly.

Gerry’s Pro Tip

Pro Tip: To get the ultimate anti-tangle performance out of this paternoster system, always make sure your hooklength is longer than the boom itself, but use a short, twisted line loop just above it! When assembling the rig, thread your mainline through the boom’s top swivel, back it with a soft rubber buffer bead, and tie it off to a small quick-change swivel. By creating a neat 3-inch twisted or stiffened monofilament loop at the start of your hooklength, you create a secondary “kick-out” effect. Combined with the Garbolino HD mono boom, it becomes physically impossible for your hooklength to wrap around the feeder frame during a cast!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is the main advantage of an American Snap Link on a feeder boom?

A: Standard wire snaps or cheap interlock clips can bend out of shape or pop open when subjected to the violent G-forces of a heavy feeder cast. The American Snap Link features an incredibly secure, heavy-gauge wrap-around locking design that can handle extreme casting pressure without ever failing, while still allowing you to snap the link open with your fingers to swap your feeder sizes instantly.

Q: Can these booms be used on a free-running rig setup?

A: Yes, absolutely. While they are classically designed for traditional paternoster variations, you can easily slide your mainline or shock leader directly through the top rolling swivel of the boom to create an incredibly slick, ultra-sensitive free-running rig. Because the boom stands out from the line, it reduces the friction a fish feels when picking up the bait, registering immediate, positive bites on your quivertip.

Q: Why use stiff HD monofilament instead of a traditional metal wire boom?

A: Traditional metal wire booms are heavy, can bend permanently out of shape if caught in a landing net, and cast a hard, unnatural reflection through clear water. Garbolino’s heavy-duty monofilament boom provides the exact same rigid “kick-out” mechanical property as wire, but it is virtually weightless in the water, completely transparent to wary fish, and springs back dead straight after being crushed or flexed.
