It features a fully saltwater-ready construction, including a corrosion-resistant alloy shaft, a stainless steel propeller shaft, and a sacrificial anode to combat galvanic corrosion in the sea.

Operating the motor is incredibly simple thanks to the high and low speed controls and an instant forward/reverse switch. The transom mount features an adjustable fitting for seamless attachment to your craft’s stern or motor mount, alongside a clever anti-impact clip system that protects your transom if you stumble into the shallows. Pairing this motor with a small, lightweight 12V 20Ah to 30Ah Lithium (LiFePO4) battery will give you hours of runtime while keeping your entire kayak setup incredibly light and easy to launch. When navigating over shallow rock shelves or weed beds, leave the transom bracket thumb-screws just tight enough to hold the motor straight, but loose enough that the anti-impact clip can pop open and let the motor swing up if you hit an unseen obstruction.”

Does this model include the specialized kayak bracket?

No, this is the standard transom-mount version of the T18. It attaches perfectly to any flat transom, standard motor block, or square bar mount. If your kayak does not have a flat transom, you will need a separate kayak mount bar or bracket to attach it securely.

How long will a battery last with this 18lb thrust motor?

Because it only delivers 18lb of thrust, its amp draw is very low. On a standard 50Ah deep-cycle battery, you can comfortably expect a full day of stop-and-start fishing and moving between marks. On the ‘Low’ speed setting, it will run for an incredibly long time.

Can I use this in heavy sea currents or high winds?

The T18 is designed specifically for flat water, sheltered estuaries, canals, and calm coastal bays. If you regularly fish big, open coastal waters with strong tidal races or heavy head-winds, we would recommend stepping up to the Watersnake 24lb or 34lb models for that extra bit of safety margin.

Is the handle extendable?

Yes, the handle features a retractable design. You can slide it out to give you a more comfortable reach while seated in your kayak or canoe, and push it back in out of the way when transporting or storing the motor.
