Which rod ring should I pick?

picking the correct guide/ring for your new rod can be harder than you first thought as there are so many to pick from.

Rest assured all the guides we stock are a decent quality but it’s nice getting the correct ones for the fishing conditions.

atc tiforged duralite

ATC TiForged Durarite

This is what we think is the best all round (price included) guide on the market.

It is forward facing (k style) angle makes it suitable for both multipliers and fixed spools.

The frame is made from stainless steel and is coated with a grey/black finish which looks great against gloss black blanks.

It has a Duralite insert which has a low friction surface which aids distance and its braid friendly.

atc tiforged nanolite

ATC TiForged Titanium Nanolite

This K style forward facing guide is ideal for hybrid builds as its great for both reel types. The frame is made from titanium which makes it super light, tough and must less reactive to corrosion ensuring it lasts much longer than a standard steel frame.

The Nanolite insert has a super low friction surface which produces extra yards when compared to other guides.

We have noticed the biggest difference when using braid and ultra thin mono’s

atc nanoplasma blue

ATC TiForged Nano Plasma Blue/Silver

This is perhaps our favourite guide and is probably the best we stock.

The frame is made from titanium making it super light, strong and less corrosive than steel. The frame is forward facing making it ideal for multiplier, fixed spool and hybrid ringing.

It has a nanoplasma insert which has the lowest friction of any guide we sell which allows the line to pass through quicker resulting in a longer cast. The insert is also much more durable than most so you really get the best of both worlds and is braid friendly.

These work really well if you are after something a little special with the whipping colours.

fuji torzite

Fuji Titanium Torzite’s

This is Fuji’s top of the range guide and is the lightest on the market.

The K style frame is made for both reel types and is incredibly light and strong.

The Torzite insert is outstanding. It offers a near frictionless surface resulting in more distance. It is also very narrow, light and pretty durable.

Braid friendly.

fuji cckwag

Fuji CCKWAG’s

This is a great all round guide. It features Fuji’s popular K shape and made from Steel. It’s suitable for both reel types and very durable.

The insert is an alconite which is probably the most known insert in the world. It’s balance between durability, low friction and a good price makes it a great all rounder.

atc delta

ATC Delta’s

This stainless steel frame is super strong and a real favourite for fixed spool builds as the guides stand off the blank a little more.

The insert is very durable yet still retains a low friction surface making it good for casting, especially with braid.

atc holo

ATC Typhoon Holo Guides

If you want a wow factor, look no further these guides look absolutely outstanding on a blank, especially when you combine them with metallic purple and silver.

The Typhoon frame is made from stainless steel, is very strong and suitable for both reel types.

It has a nanolite insert which has a very low friction surface allowing you to cast a long, long way with little effort.

They are braid friendly and tough.

atc vortex air

ATC Vortex Air

These are a bit of a ‘game charger’ guide and released late in 2021.

The guide has a forward facing frame making it ideal for either reel type and is made from a hardened stainless steel and finished in a grey/black coating.

The beauty of this guide is that it doesn’t have an insert, just a smoother internal edge.

It casts really well, its super light, very tough and if you drop your rod there is no insert to crack.

These guides can be used anywhere but can be particularly handy when rock fishing or for people prone to breaking guides and dropping rods.

Braid friendly.

atc atlas

ATC Atlas’

This is the cheapest guide we stock by quite a way but you get quite a lot for the price.

It comes with a very durable frame, more suited to multiplier setups.

The insert is pretty durable but they aren’t suitable for braid.

pac bay minima

Pac Bay Minima’s

An old favourite for anglers fishing rougher ground. They have no inserts so if you drop your rod, the frame may bend but you can bend it back out and keep fishing.

They are also light in weight and are pretty cheap.

You can use braid on them but if its all the time you will eventually wear grooves into them and need to replace one or two.
