Whether you are targeting hard-fighting barbel on a river or tench and carp on a stillwater, the FS 4000 provides the technical precision required for modern specimen hunting.

The standout feature of this reel is its dual-drag system. It combines a powerful, smooth front drag for playing fish with an independent, fully adjustable free-spool rear drag. This allows a fish to take line freely on the “run” before you engage the main drag with a simple turn of the handle. Built with a high-strength graphite body and rotor, the reel remains incredibly lightweight at just 322g, ensuring your setup stays balanced and responsive during long days on the bank.

Where to Use the Xtractor+ Specialist FS 4000

River Barbel & Chub Fishing: The 4000 size is the perfect “workhorse” for river work. The free-spool system is essential when a barbel “wraps the rod round,” preventing your gear from being pulled into the water.
Tench & Bream Sessions: Ideal for use on alarms when targeting silverfish specimens. The precise rear drag can be set ultra-light to ensure shy-biting fish feel zero resistance when picking up the bait.

“The FS 4000 is the perfect step up from the 3000 if you need that extra bit of cranking power and line capacity. I always recommend using the spare graphite deep spool for your heavier mono—with a capacity of 250m of 0.28mm line, it’s more than enough for big river work. Keep the main spool loaded with a lighter 8lb line for technical bream or tench work. To get the best out of the free-spool, set it just tight enough to hold against the current; this ensures the ‘scream’ is as clear as possible when a fish runs
