The Tail Rubber Tension Trick:

When using these lead clips, always adjust the “grip” of your tail rubber based on the weed levels. In clear water with no snags, push the tail rubber on firmly. However, if you are fishing in heavy weed, only push the tail rubber onto the clip about 1–2mm. This ensures that if the lead gets buried in a weed bed, it will pop off instantly, causing the fish to rise to the surface and making the battle much easier to win!

How do I attach my mainline to the leader?

The top of the leader has a pre-spliced loop. We recommend a “loop-to-loop” connection for the ultimate strength. Simply tie a large figure-of-eight loop in your mainline, pass it through the leader loop, and then pass the entire leader through the mainline loop. Alternatively, a standard Grinner or Palomar knot works perfectly.

Is leadcore safe for the fish?

Yes, provided the leader is used correctly. These ready-tied leaders are spliced so that in the event of a mainline break, the lead clip can slide off the end of the leader, allowing the fish to swim away with only the hooklink. Always ensure your knots and connections are tidy to allow for easy ejection.

Can I use these for Chod rigs?

While these are Lead Clip leaders, you can adapt them for helicopter work by removing the lead clip. However, for the best performance and safety, we recommend using the Korda Leadcore Chod Safety System leaders specifically designed for that purpose.

How many fish can I catch on one leader?

Kable leadcore is extremely durable. You can use a leader for multiple sessions provided you check it regularly for “fuzzing” or abrasion. If the inner lead wire starts to poke through the weave or the splices look damaged, it is time to replace it.
