Where to Use the Nytro Floating Hooked Needle

Soft Expander Pellets: The hooked tip is the best way to pull a latex bait band through a softened expander pellet without the pellet “bursting” or falling off.
Live Baiting (Worms): Perfect for threading a bunch of worms or a single large dendrobaena onto a hair rig or directly onto a hook with a bait stop.
Natural Baits: Use it for pulled luncheon meat or sweetcorn on the hair. The hooked end ensures the loop stays put while you slide the bait into position.
Standard Hair Rigging: Ideal for pulling mono or braided hair loops through pre-drilled hard baits or soft wafters.

“The ‘Hooked’ needle is my go-to for expander pellets. Because the needle is only 1mm thick, it doesn’t leave a gaping hole that lets the pellet wobble. My top tip: when pulling a bait band through a soft pellet, dip the needle in a bit of water or bait glug first. It acts as a lubricant, letting the hook and band slide through the soft center like a hot knife through butter. And remember, if it falls in the water, don’t panic! Just reach for your landing net and scoop it right back up.”

Q: Will the hook snag on the bait as I pull it through?

A: No. The hooked tip is designed to be low-profile. As long as you keep tension on the loop or band while pulling back, it glides through soft baits cleanly.

Q: Does it really float with the metal needle attached?

A: Absolutely. The handle is specifically engineered with enough buoyancy to keep the entire tool (including the stainless steel needle) floating on the surface of the water.

Q: Is 1mm too thick for small maggots?

A: For maggots, we generally recommend the ‘Super Fine’ needle. However, for worms and larger soft baits, this 1mm hooked version is the perfect balance of strength and finesse.

Q: Can I use this for hard boilies?

A: We wouldn’t recommend it for very hard, air-dried boilies without drilling them first. This is a 1mm needle designed for ‘soft’ hook baits. For hard boilies, use the Nytro Floating Bait Drill first!
