Designed to balance perfectly with the Ultra D and Ultra XD rod ranges, this reel is a workhorse. It features an extremely durable graphite body that eliminates “body flex” under the strain of heavy feeders, ensuring all your winding power goes directly into the retrieve. How to Get the Best from Your Aquos Ultra 6000

1. The Big River “Heavy Feed”

On tidal rivers like the Trent or the Severn, you often need to cast heavy 4oz+ feeders into mid-stream. The Aquos 6000’s graphite body ensures the reel doesn’t “twist” under the pressure of the flow, giving you a much more stable and powerful retrieve when bringing back heavy lead.

2. The 80m+ Distance Trap

Pair this reel with a 13ft or 14ft Aquos Ultra XD rod. Fill the spool with 0.28mm mono or a high-quality braided mainline. The large diameter spool prevents “line coil,” which is the main cause of friction during a cast. This setup is the gold standard for reaching those distant bream shoals on large reservoirs.

3. Playing Big Fish on the Drag

The multi-disc drag system is incredibly responsive. When targeting large commercial carp at distance, set your drag just below the breaking point of your hooklink. The Aquos 6000 will give line smoothly during those initial explosive runs, preventing hook pulls or breakages.

Gerry’s Pro Tip: To achieve maximum distance, don’t overfill the spool. Leaving a 1mm–2mm lip on the aluminium spool edge allows the line to transition through the rod rings with significantly less resistance, adding vital yards to your cast.
