Tronixpro Running Beads

The Finesse Connection: Smooth, Resistance-Free Running Rigs.

When you are targeting wary fish like Bass, Bream, or specimen Rays, the slightest hint of resistance can cause them to drop the bait. The Tronixpro Running Beads are designed to replace standard metal swivels on sliding rigs, offering a much smoother transition of line. The oval plastic design allows your mainline to glide through the bead with minimal friction, ensuring the fish feels nothing but the bait until it’s too late.

At Gerry’s Fishing, we particularly like these for “light-touch” shore and boat fishing. By housing the connection within a smooth plastic body, you also protect your mainline from the “sawing” effect that a metal swivel eye can sometimes cause under tension.

Why Running Beads are a Rig-Bag Essential:

  • Frictionless Presentation: The plastic-on-mono interface is significantly smoother than metal-on-mono. This allows for a “true” running ledger where the fish can take yards of line without feeling the weight of the lead.

  • Line Protection: The oval shape is designed to distribute the weight of the lead over a larger surface area. This prevents the “bruising” or flattening of your mainline that often occurs with standard sliding clips.

  • The “All-in-One” Solution: These beads are the secret weapon for the Portland Rig. They effectively house both the swivel and the buffer in one neat, sliding unit, creating a streamlined snood attachment that resists tangles.

  • Wessex Rig Compatibility: Perfect for constructing Wessex Rigs, where you want a sliding snood to move effortlessly along the rig body to search different depths of the water column.

Where to Use Them (Pro Recommendations)

  • Estuary Bass Fishing: When fishing in tidal creeks with live or delicate baits, use these beads to ensure a Bass can swim away with the bait without feeling any “jerk” from the lead.

  • Portland Rigs for Bream: The perfect way to mount a flowing trace. The bead slides easily, allowing your bait to flutter naturally in the tide, and provides a “soft” stop against your lower swivel.

  • Calm Weather “Scratching”: When the sea is flat and the fish are timid, every bit of finesse helps. Replacing heavy metal sliders with these lightweight beads can often result in more “hitted” bites.

  • Boat Fishing: Ideal for “down-tide” ledgering for species like Plaice and Rays, where a smooth-running line is essential for detecting the initial pick-up.

Gerry’s Warning: It is important to remember that these are finesse components. They are not designed to take the massive G-forces of a 150-yard power cast with a 6oz lead. For heavy-duty surf casting or Pulley Rigs, stick to metal Pulley Swivels or heavy-duty sliders. These beads are for fishing, not for “blasting” to the horizon
