Shimano Bassterra A LRF Spinning 7’2″ 1-11g 2pc

Shimano Bassterra A LRF 7’2″ | The Ultra-Finesse Micro Specialist

At Gerry’s Fishing, the Shimano Bassterra A LRF 7’2″ (1-11g) is our top recommendation for the “pure” LRF enthusiast. This is the lightest and most sensitive rod in the Bassterra LRF family. Designed specifically for the most delicate saltwater lure techniques, its 1-11g casting weight is perfectly tuned for micro-jigging, tiny dropshot rigs, and “head-and-tail” soft plastic presentations.

The 7’2″ length makes this rod an extension of your arm. It provides the surgical precision required to flick a 1g jig head into the smallest gap between harbor pilings or to work a tiny lure with micro-movements along a marina pontoon.

Ultra-Light Performance & Blank Tech

• Fast Action Full Carbon Blank: To work lures that weigh less than a coin, you need a blank with an immediate recovery. This Full Carbon blank features a Fast Action, allowing you to “flick” light lures to surprising distances and providing the “snap” needed to set tiny, light-wire hooks instantly.

• Diaflash Reinforcement: Even in this ultra-light class, Shimano incorporates Diaflash technology. This diagonal carbon wrapping on the butt section adds torsional stability. It ensures that when you cast a tiny 2g lure, the rod doesn’t “wobble,” resulting in laser-like accuracy. It also provides a hidden power reserve should a larger Bass or Wrasse decide to gatecrash your LRF session.

• Maximum Sensitivity Tip: The tip of the 7’2″ model is engineered for “bite detection above all else.” It is designed to amplify the tiny vibrations of a small paddle-tail or the subtle “inhale” of a mini-predator, transforming every micro-tug into a clear signal.

Specialist LRF Components

• Fuji Stainless Steel K-Type O-Ring Guides: Since LRF relies on incredibly thin braided lines (PE 0.2 to 0.4), guide quality is paramount. These “tangle-free” K-guides prevent wind knots during the cast, while the stainless steel frames are built to survive the constant salt spray of harbor and rock marks.

• Custom VSS Reel Seat: The slim, ergonomic VSS reel seat is positioned to provide the perfect balance point. It allows for a comfortable, light grip that maximizes the tactile feedback transmitted from the lure to your fingertips.

• Split EVA Handle: The high-density EVA split-grip keeps the overall weight of the rod exceptionally low. This ensures the rod is “tip-light,” which is essential for technical, wrist-heavy lure manipulation over long periods.

Use Example: Micro-Jigging and “Street Fishing” Styles

Imagine you are walking along a busy harbor wall. You can see small Pollack and Corkwing Wrasse hiding in the crevices just a few feet below you. You are using a 2g tungsten jig head with a 1-inch scented worm.

The Bassterra A LRF 7’2″ 1-11g is the ultimate tool for this “Street Fishing” style. The shorter length allows you to work the lure vertically with total control. You can feel the jig head “touch” the barnacles on the wall; when a fish strikes, the sensitive tip registers the take long before the fish feels the rod. The 1-11g rating ensures that even a 6-inch fish provides a thrilling fight, turning every catch into a memorable moment.
