While it feels like a finesse reel in the hand, its internal architecture is built for “ocean monsters.” Featuring the revolutionary InfinityDrive for 30% lighter rotation and X-Protect for ultimate saltwater defense, this reel is the perfect choice for stand-up styles where agility and mechanical advantage are paramount.

InfinityDrive: By incorporating a double-drag construction, Shimano has achieved a 30% reduction in the force required to turn the handle under load. This means that even when a powerful fish is stripping line, the cranking remains smooth and effortless.
X-Protect Technology: This provides the best possible protection against the intrusion of saltwater. By using a labyrinth structure and water-repellent coating, the internal brass gears and 7 shielded A-RB bearings are guaranteed to stay protected from corrosion.
Hagane Body: The cold-forged aluminum frame eliminates body flexing, ensuring that the internal components stay in perfect alignment during the most intense fights.

Dual-Speed System: Switch instantly between the 5.7:1 high gear for rapid bait retrieval (up to 107cm per crank) and the 3.1:1 low gear for the unlimitless torque needed to winch a deep-diving fish to the surface.
Braid & Mono Optimized: While designed with a focus on braided lines, an additional drag cam is supplied in the box.⁶ This allows you to swap cams to create the optimal drag curve for monofilament line, giving you the best of both worlds.
