The Sunset RS Competition Special Mulet is a masterpiece of finesse engineering, specifically designed for the most challenging “sight-feeders” in our waters. Mullet are notoriously “tackle-shy” and possess a highly developed sense of sight and touch. To catch them consistently from the shore, you need a rig that prioritizes invisibility and a delicate presentation.

At Gerry’s Fishing, we recognize this as the ultimate rig for light-line shore specialists. By utilizing ultra-fine 20/100 (approx. 5lb) fluorocarbon, this rig virtually disappears in the water. The three-hook “flapper” configuration is spaced across a 180cm main body, allowing you to present multiple small baits at different depths—essential for finding where Mullet are feeding in the water column.

As the instructions suggest, the best bait for this rig is 1 to 3 semi-hard worms (like maddies or small ragworm). To maintain the stealth of the rig, use a fine baiting needle to thread the worms up the line past the hook eye. This hides the hook almost entirely. Because the snoods are a delicate 0.20mm, avoid “power-striking”—simply tighten into the fish when you see the rod tip tap. Mullet have soft mouths, and the fine wire Size 8 hook will find a hold easily under light pressure
