Master the art of the “flutter” with the Westin W2 Slow Jigging-T, now featured at Gerry’s Fishing. Slow pitch jigging is a game of rhythmic precision, and this 6’4″ Medium-Light (ML) action rod is the ultimate instrument for the finesse angler. By expertly blending 80% 30T and 20% 24T high-performance carbon, Westin has created a blank with a “crisp” rebound. This allows the rod to lift a 160g jig and then snap back, flicking the lure into that vital horizontal stall that triggers predatory strikes.
Specifically designed for use with overhead (multiplier) reels, the “T” version features a Seaguide XCZS trigger reel seat for an ergonomic, “palmed” grip that reduces wrist strain during a full day of jigging. Whether you are technical jigging in the Mediterranean for Snapper or working the deep Atlantic currents for big Bass, the W2 Slow Jigging series offers the sensitivity to feel a fish “inhaling” the lure on the drop and the lifting power to steer them away from the kelp.

Finesse Slow Pitch Jigging: The 160g rating is the “sweet spot” for mid-depths (20m to 60m). It is perfectly tuned for Half-Pitch and One-Pitch styles where you want a more subtle, seductive movement from your “Anchovy” or “Sardine” profile jigs.
Targeting “Pickier” Predators: This Medium-Light action rod is ideal for species like John Dory, Pink Snapper, and large Sea Bass. The 30T carbon is sensitive enough to detect the tiniest “tick” on your line, even when fishing in deep water.
Working the Slack Water: When the tide slows down, a 160g setup allows for a much more natural lure presentation than a heavy, stiff rod. Use the W2’s flexibility to “dance” your jig right in front of a predator’s nose.
The “Braid-Watch” Technique: In slow jigging, the strike almost always happens on the fall. Because this is an overhead/trigger rod, keep your thumb lightly feathered on the spool as the jig sinks. If the spool suddenly speeds up or stops before it should, engage the reel and strike! The 24/30T carbon blend is designed to load instantly, setting the hook before the fish can spit the lure.
What is the benefit of the 1+1 section design?
Unlike a standard 2-piece rod that splits in the middle, the 1+1 design means the entire fishing part of the rod is a single, uninterrupted piece of carbon that slots into the handle. This preserves the perfect parabolic curve and ensures there is no “dead spot” in the blank when you’re fighting a big fish.
Which reel type does this rod require?
This is the “T” (Trigger) version, which is built for overhead, baitcasting, or multiplier reels. These reels sit on top of the rod, giving you much better control over the line and the “pitch” than a standard spinning setup.
Is 160g the absolute limit?
While the rod is built to handle 160g, its “sweet spot” for that ideal slow-pitch rebound is usually between 80g and 140g. If you frequently need to fish 160g or heavier in deep water or strong currents, you might want to consider the Medium (200g) model to maintain that snappy rod-tip recovery
