At Gerry’s Fishing, we’ve seen plenty of “winter” smocks that are either bone dry but freezing, or warm but soaked through by lunchtime. The new Team Vass 230 Winter Lined Smock is neither. It’s built on Vass-Tex 230 fabric with a genuine 20,000mm waterproof rating, insulated to keep the cold out, and — crucially — light enough that you can still cast, net a fish and climb a bank without feeling like you’re wrestling a duvet.

Thanks to Vass’s own Permanent Waterproof Fabric Coating Technology, the waterproofing is built into the fabric itself rather than sprayed on top. That means no reproofing, no fading performance after a few washes, and none of the PTFE repellent chemicals that end up washing back into the rivers and coastline you’re fishing.
