Description

The Daiwa Wilderness Fly Rod 10′ #7 is a purpose-built rod for the stillwater and reservoir angler who requires maximum length and control. This model utilizes the classic, reliable action of the Wilderness series in an extended length, providing a significant advantage in many fishing scenarios. The 4-piece construction ensures it remains practical for travel.

The combination of the 10-foot length and the #7 line weight makes this an ideal “locher” or boat rod. The additional length provides superb reach for fishing droppers from a boat, controlling the drift of a fly line over long distances, and performing advanced line mending techniques. The #7 line weight gives it ample power to cast a variety of line densities (including intermediate and fast-sinking lines), manage wind, and subdue large trout and other game fish.

Product Details and Uses

This rod is a favourite for competition and boat anglers. Its primary use is on large lakes, reservoirs, and lochs where the extra length is crucial for:

  • Boat Fishing: Keeping fly lines clear of the boat and other anglers, and lifting large quantities of sinking line to recast.
  • Bank Fishing: Achieving the maximum possible casting distance and clearing bankside vegetation.
  • Line Control: Superior mending ability and subtle control over the line’s drift at range, which is critical for fishing multiple-fly setups (like the “Buzzer” or “Washing Line”).
