Megabass Kanata +1 SW: Deep-Diving Specimen Power

When the fish are holding deeper or the temperature drops, you need a lure that can reach the strike zone without sacrificing the “big bait” profile. At Gerry’s Fishing, we are massive fans of the Megabass Kanata +1 SW. It takes everything that made the original Kanata a legend—the massive 16cm presence and the aerodynamic slim body—and adds a precision-engineered diving lip that takes it down to a depth of 3.20m.

This is the ultimate tool for “Power Jerking.” Despite its size and the deeper diving depth, Megabass has tuned the hydrodynamics so that the lure offers surprisingly low retrieve resistance. This means you can rip, jerk, and burn this lure through the mid-water column all day without the wrist fatigue usually associated with large, deep-diving minnows.

Equipped with the Triple Tungsten Oscillating System, the Kanata +1 SW remains a casting machine. Even with the larger diving lip, those three internal tungsten balls shift to the rear during the cast, ensuring this 31g lure flies straight and true through coastal headwinds.

Where to Use the Kanata +1 SW

The “Plus One” depth range makes this lure a specialist for deep-water marks and aggressive prospecting:

Deep Harbor Walls & Jetties: When Bass or large Pollock are hugging the shadow lines of deep structures, the Kanata +1 dives quickly to their level. The massive flash from its flat sides is visible even in the darker, deeper water.
Cold Water Pelagics: In early spring or late autumn when fish move away from the surface into the 2.5m–3.5m range, this lure reaches them perfectly. It’s a “killer” for deep-holding Bass that won’t rise for a shallow-running minnow.
Offshore Reefs & Sunken Rocks: If you’re fishing over reefs that are 4–6 meters deep, the Kanata +1 gets close enough to the kelp and rocks to draw predators out of cover. Its floating buoyancy allows you to pause the retrieve and let it “rise” away from potential snags.
Windy Days on Large Lakes (Lochs/Meres): While this is the SW version, its size and depth make it a devastating Pike lure. The tungsten system allows you to cast across the wind to cover massive amounts of water in search of an active specimen.

Gerry’s Pro Tip: The Kanata +1 is at its best with a “Sweep and Pause” technique. Use the rod to sweep the lure down to its maximum depth, then pause. Because it’s a floating lure, it will slowly head back toward the surface—this “rising” action often triggers a following fish to finally commit to the strike
