If you are looking for the flagship performer in the Tidal range, the PENN Tidal XR 423 K-Guide is the rod that sets the standard. This 4.20m (14ft) 3-piece rod is designed for the angler who needs a rod that can do it all. Unlike the Lowrider versions which are braid-specific, the K-Type guides on this model make it incredibly versatile, handling thicker monofilaments and heavy shock leaders just as easily as modern thin braids.

“The Tidal XR K-Guide is the most balanced rod in the range. It’s not a ‘broomstick,’ but it has a very fast recovery. To get the best distance, use a smooth, progressive off-the-ground or overhead power cast. Because the K-guides are slightly larger than Lowriders, this rod is the perfect choice if you prefer using monofilament mainlines (0.30mm – 0.35mm) with a heavy 60lb shock leader.
