The 201 XG model is a Left-Hand Drive reel featuring an Extra High (XG) gear ratio. This makes it the ultimate tool for techniques that require rapid line pick-up, such as burning lures back to the boat, working topwater walk-the-dog baits, or quickly retrieving “slack” line after a strike.

Intelligent Technology & Build Quality

• i-DC4 Digital Control Braking: This is the “brain” of the reel. An onboard micro-computer monitors spool speed 1,000 times per second and applies the perfect amount of electromagnetic brake to prevent overruns. It features 4 simple external settings:

  1. Large Lures: Minimal braking for maximum distance.

  2. Braided/Mono Line: General-purpose setting.

  3. Fluorocarbon Line: Adjusted for the stiffer properties of fluoro.

  4. Skipping/Strong Wind: Maximum control for the most difficult conditions.

• HAGANE Body: The frame is made from high-rigidity aluminium. This “Hagane” construction eliminates flexing under heavy loads, ensuring that every turn of the handle is converted directly into cranking power.

• Micro Module & X-Ship Gearing: Shimano’s Micro Module gears feature smaller, more numerous teeth for a “velvet-smooth” retrieve. Supported by X-Ship (bearing-supported pinion gear), the internal components stay in perfect alignment even when winching in a hard-fighting predator.

• S3D Spool: The Shimano Stable Spool Design reduces vibration and “spool wobble” during the cast. This balanced rotation allows the DC system to work with surgical precision for longer, quieter casts.

With the Curado DC 201 XG, you simply click the dial to Setting 4.
